RN Wound Care
**Job Summary** The RN - Wound Care specializes in providing expert care for patients with acute and chronic wounds. This role involves assessing, planning, and implementing evidence-based wound care treatments while educating patients and families on proper wound care techniques. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans, ensuring optimal healing outcomes and preventing complications. **Essential Functions** + Assesses patients with wounds, including pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, burns, and other injuries, to develop and implement individualized care plans. + Administers wound care treatments such as dressing changes, debridement, and application of wound care products in accordance with physician orders and clinical guidelines. + Evaluates the effectiveness of wound care interventions, documenting progress and making adjustments to the care plan as needed. + Collaborates with physicians, physical therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and ensure coordinated care. + Educates patients and families on proper wound care techniques, prevention of infection, and strategies to promote healing, including nutrition and lifestyle adjustments. + Maintains compliance with infection prevention protocols, including proper hand hygiene, wound dressing disposal, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). + Monitors and reports changes in wound condition, infection signs, or other complications to the appropriate healthcare team members. + Participates in wound care rounds, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance wound care practices within the facility. + Maintains accurate and thorough documentation of wound assessments, treatments, and patient education in the medical record. + Serves as a resource for staff by providing guidance and training on wound care protocols and best practices. + Performs other duties as assigned. + Complies with all policies and standards. **Qualifications** + 0-2 years of clinical nursing experience involving direct patient care required + Prior experience in wound care or related specialty preferred **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** + Advanced knowledge of wound care principles, including treatment techniques and wound healing processes. + Proficiency in assessing and documenting wound characteristics and implementing evidence-based interventions. + Strong communication and teaching skills to educate patients, families, and staff. + Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans. + Knowledge of infection prevention protocols and safety standards. + Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex wound care cases. + Organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage patient care effectively. **Licenses and Certifications** + RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required + BCLS - Basic Life Support required + Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse preferred + WCC - Wound Care Certified preferred Equal Employment Opportunity This organization does not discriminate in any way to deprive any person of employment opportunities or otherwise adversely affect the status of any employee because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, genetic information, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, citizenship, veteran status, or military or uniformed services, in accordance with all applicable governmental laws and regulations.
