RNG Technology Engineer - Decatur, IL

The Technology Engineer, Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) will apply engineering principles to new and existing facilities with tasks ranging from process design to the evaluation/implementation of new technologies.

The person in this position will be responsible for our global RNG footprint.  They will ensure RNG systems are designed, built, operated, and maintained for optimal safety and productivity performance. 

ADM’s operations currently produce RNG from wastewater processes in Canada and the U.S., and we continue exploration of expanding our RNG production capabilities. 

Essential Job Functions:Display a dedication to lead, develop and support safety and promote a safety culture; promote continuous process safety improvementEnsure maximum productivity from online RNG assets; identify bottlenecks in process and develop and execute engineered solutionsBenchmark the location versus internal and external best-available technologies and drive improvementsDevelop and maintain a 5-year project portfolio to include capital budgeting and execution in cooperation with Operations and Commercial LeadershipProvide technical evaluation and engineering for new RNG projectsDevelop SOPs and perform on-site training to operating teamsEstablish reliability programs for the RNG assetsExplore, propose and/or champion new process technologies and equipment suppliersAssist plant operations in solving applicable technical problemsSupport the facility in setting up goalsWork closely with company subject matter experts on the implementation of innovative approaches to plant operation and maintenanceAct as a resource for plant process engineers through coaching, mentoring, and conducting training sessionsRequired Skills:Dedication to working safely and to the awareness for the safety of othersStrong knowledge of a variety of process unit operations; some examples include: anaerobic digestion, pressure swing absorption, acid gas scrubbing, and reactorsExperience with optimization/analytical processes and toolsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with plant engineers and managementWorking knowledge of common process drawings and documentation, such as P&IDs and control narrativesWillingness to spend time in plant areas – tolerate extreme temperatures, walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders, and move through close spacesAbility to work effectively on a team, as well as independently, while traveling to remote plant locationsHigh level of motivation and results-oriented way of workingRequired Education:Bachelor's Degree in the fields of Engineering, Engineering Technology, Production Manufacturing or other related fieldRequired Experience:Minimum 5 years’ experience with plant process systemsDesired Experience:Process or Project EngineeringExcited about this role but don’t meet every requirement listed?
