Roadway Inspector
Job Description: As a Roadway Inspector, you will conduct visual inspections of roadway conditions within your assigned district. Using a tablet, you will document issues such as drainage problems, vegetation overgrowth, damaged signs or fencing, and faded markings. Reports will be submitted in real-time to ensure thorough and accurate documentation.
Responsibilities:
+ Attend project-related meetings.
+ Submit detailed daily activity reports.
+ Assist with project acceptance testing coordination.
+ Inspect and approve materials prior to installation.
+ Identify and report potential issues to the contractor and project engineer.
+ Keep the project engineer and supervisor informed of progress.
+ Perform job-specific quality system tasks as outlined in the quality manual.
+ Compose and log weekly status and daily reports.
+ Provide daily photos of construction progress.
+ Post addendums to plans and specifications.
+ Maintain as-built drawings throughout the project.
+ Ensure compliance with specifications and standards, maintaining accurate records.
+ Perform other duties as required.
Essential Skills:
+ 2+ years of experience in highway/roadway inspections and reporting.
+ Experience in inspection services, routine maintenance, and construction materials testing.
+ NICET, ACI, ICC, RTT certifications related to asphalt resurfacing and erosion control, or the ability to obtain these certifications within 6 months of hire.
+ Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company policy standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or GED.
+ 2 years of experience inspecting utilities, electrical, waterline installation, and roadway construction.
+ Experience with soils testing, concrete testing, nuclear density gauge, and RTT.
+ Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
+ Thorough knowledge of civil engineering and construction practices, techniques, materials, and related equipment.
+ Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
+ Basic mathematical skills for measurements and computations.
+ Ability to operate a computer and related software.
Work Environment: The role is 100% field-based, typically working in a truck with a partner. It frequently requires working in various weather conditions. The position does not require overnight travel, with travel limited to the assigned district. The culture is supportive and autonomous, with steady year-round work and a continuous flow of projects.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00
