POSITION PURPOSE: Take Room Service orders accurately in a helpful, friendly, courteous, and professional manner to ensure total guest satisfaction. Deliver food to guest room in quoted time frame. Return room service equipment from guest floors/public areas of hotel to appropriate dish room area in order to keep public areas presentable. Also, sort and clean tables and trays so that equipment is available for future orders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Prepare trays and deliver to rooms.
2. Maintain complete guest satisfaction by maintaining service standards.
3. Check floors to be sure all trays and carts are retrieved.
4. Prepare and deliver guest amenities.
5. Keep room service area clean.
6. Requisition and maintenance food supplies.
7. Perform side work (open, close and shift maintenance duties).
8. Pick up clean linen from laundry and return dirty linen.
9. Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and personal hygiene.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Knowledge of the appropriate food and beverage preparations and service standards.
2. Knowledge of beverages and wines.
3. Knowledge of all menu items and accompaniments.
4. Basic knowledge of the English language sufficient to understand inquiries from customers and communicate preparation methods. Ability to comprehend written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel.
5. Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
6. Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise transport up to 50lbs.
7. Knowledge of room service operations, including appropriate staffing levels, service equipment and guest relations.
8. Knowledge of local attractions.
9. Knowledge of proper etiquette and manners.
10. Ability to multi-task.
11. Ability to work among a team atmosphere as well as alone.
12. Ability to perform duties in strict time parameters.
13. Ability to maintain service standards.
14. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
15. No prior experience required.
