We have a great opportunity for a Rope Inspector in our Canton, OH location!
SUMMARY
The Rope Inspector is responsible for performing inspections on pulling and stringing equipment, including braided nylon rope and steel wire. Using quality tools, scope inspection equipment, and practical experience, the Rope Inspector ensures that all equipment meets quality standards and complies with specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform Rope Inspections: Inspect all serviced equipment and create detailed inspection reports for both nylon and steel wire rope.Audit Quality Control: Regularly audit quality control procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal processes.Document Procedures: Maintain and document existing practices, procedures, and processes, ensuring revision control on all controlled documents.Collaboration: Work closely with the S&P team to meet customer expectations for equipment quality and service.Visual Inspections: Conduct thorough visual inspections of steel wire rope to verify compliance with drawings, work orders, and OEM specifications.Splice Repairs & Eye Weaving: Perform splice repairs and weave eyes in both nylon and steel wire rope per OEM manufacturer specifications.Scope Inspections: Conduct Scope rope inspections to ensure nylon rope complies with drawings and work orders.Inspect Incoming Rope: Assist with the inspection of all purchased nylon and steel wire rope for units and stock.Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and perform light maintenance on inspection equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition.Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean work area, adhering to all safety procedures and practices.Other Duties as assigned by ManagementGENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Identification: Recognize and document instances of poor-quality materials or workmanship in both nylon and steel wire rope.Problem Reporting: Detect and report improper operations, defective materials, and unsafe conditions to supervisors.Mechanical Inspections: Set up and perform mechanical inspections using appropriate equipment, tools, and procedures.Data Collection & Record Maintenance: Maintain and update the Scope inspection system for data collection and record-keeping.Corrective Procedures: Understand and apply corrective procedures for issues such as defective materials or errors in drawings and escalate issues to the appropriate supervisor.Promote Safety: Actively promote safety practices and encourage adherence to safety regulations and company policies.Equipment Care: Encourage proper operation and maintenance of all inspection equipment and machinery.Communication: Maintain open communication between quality control, parts, and service teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure smooth operations.CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plusQUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the vocational truck industry or a related field.At least 1-2 years of quality inspection experience preferred.MECHANICAL SKILLS REQUIRED
General mechanical aptitude and experience, with a preference for experience with hydraulic, heavy equipment, diesel trucks, or farm equipment.Familiarity with common computer software (MS Office Suite, email, internet, etc.).Strong understanding of customer service principles, including needs assessment, quality standards, and customer satisfaction evaluation.WORKING CONDITIONS
Schedule: Work as scheduled, typically from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with additional overtime hours as required by business needs.Environment: Work is primarily performed in a shop or outdoor setting, with possible exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, and fumes.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
