Entergy’s Power Generation group operates a fleet of more than 30 owned, leased, or operated natural gas, coal, oil hydro, and solar plants, with a total engineering capacity exceeding 20,000 megawatts. Entergy continues to build or acquire megawatts from new hydrogen capable natural gas units, solar, and other technologies to complement its existing megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric, and solar facilities.
Job Summary/Purpose:
The Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer will work within the Performance Monitoring and Analytics Center (PMAC) and is responsible for identifying and supporting the optimization of Entergy’s generating assets along with the integration of emerging new technologies into the PMAC’s portfolio of responsibilities.
The PMAC organization is responsible for gathering, tracking, and utilizing real-time analytics that centrally monitors fleet-wide performance, maintenance, reliability, and operations. The objective of the team is to improve operations and drive efficient maintenance practices in support of key fleet initiatives, which include lower production costs, continuous improvement, and an increase in unit reliability and asset availability. The Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer will assist in the development of a Reliability Centered Maintenance program approach utilizing traditional PdM technologies as well as data analytics and industry best practices. Participate in root-cause analysis (RCAs) for plant failures. Participate in equipment assessment process to determine the condition of equipment. Provide equipment diagnostic support and recommendations. This role works with all programs, work processes, training, and communication required to support the overall monitoring of Entergy’s various generation resources. This position will be based in the Woodlands, Texas. The PMAC is part of the Power Generation’s SMART Operations Center (SOC) that also includes remote operations, commercial asset management, and Engineering & Technical Services.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement maintenance strategies, including preventive and predictive maintenance plans. Monitor equipment performance through data analysis and condition monitoring techniques (e.g., vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, etc.). Utilizes data to improve maintenance, budget, planning and avoided costs by detecting and preventing equipment failures that might have been unforeseen without the methodical gathering and understanding of data. This person will be leading projects and analyses that help operating conditions, equipment health, generation capability, etc. Communicate and investigate issues with data quality, instrumentation, and operating equipment. Develop, maintain, and support in-house tool development for analysis of Power Generation business and operational initiatives. Contribute to the development of processes and procedures for data management, tool development, testing, and delivery. The candidate should be able to operate in a team environment with other personnel, departments, and organizations, help on various tasks that fall under the Smart Operations umbrella of responsibility. The candidate must be able to learn new processes and programs quickly and seek opportunities to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. The candidate should also have strong analytical abilities, as well as time management and organizational skills. The position requires interface with Power Generation leadership, plant management and other operational personnel, as well as other business units, including Finance, Supply Chain and System Planning Organization (SPO). The candidate should have the ability to interact at all levels.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum education required of the position:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Control Systems, or similar).
Minimum experience required of the position:
Engineer III: 4+ years of professional experience. (3+ years with a BS with a FE, or a MS). Engineer Sr: 6+ years of professional experience. (5+ years with a BS with a FE, or a MS with a PE or PMP). Engineer Sr Lead: 10+ years of professional experience (8+ years with a BS with a PE or PEP, or MS).
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position:
Analytical skill set with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint Knowledge of condition monitoring techniques, including vibration analysis, lubrication analysis, and thermography Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with vibration data collection and analysis of FFT and waveform data. Minimum ISO Category II Vibration Analyst

Preferred:
6+ years in Power Generation operations and/or maintenance experience in CCGT or Legacy (drum type, supercritical) Experience working in remote monitoring & diagnostics centers, central control centers, fleet management centers, etc. Experience with OIS PI, PI Vision, Predictive Analytics Experience with GE Smart Signal software or other advanced pattern recognition tools Experience with Predictive Maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, Thermography, oil analysis, motor testing) Experience with CMS (condition monitoring systems) function, system troubleshooting and vibration analysis of gas and steam turbines, BOP equipment, etc. ISO Category III Vibration Analyst or higher Certified Reliability Leader, Certified Reliability Engineer, Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional certification a plus Ability to perform complex analysis from a large volume of data and deliver superior results. Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications, in particular Excel and PowerBI, and some proficiency in SQL (Visual Studio and/or VBA programming knowledge beneficial) Experience with coding language and application development, or interest in learning. VB.net & Python Basic understanding of competitive power markets (e.g., MISO, SPP)
