Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Router for Transportation is a critical role in the strategic planning and coordination of transportation routes within the organization’s supply chain. This role is responsible for optimization of routing processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, negotiating with carriers, and collaborating with cross functional teams to enhance overall logistics efficiency. Essential FunctionsDUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acts as a liaison for the day-to-day routing between customer care, logistics, shipping, and transportation and gathers feedback for process improvements.Reviews weekly demand and volume data for routes, determines potential gains from re-routing, and recommends re-routes.Ensures that all routing activities comply with legal and safety requirements.Coordinates with cross functional teams such as operations and customer service to align routing strategies with overall business objectives.Generates regular reports to track and communicate performance metrics.Addresses routing challenges, disruptions, and exceptions in real-time.Collaborates with drivers, dispatchers, and other teams to find solutions to route-related issues.Identifies opportunities for process improvements in routing and transportation operations.Implements best practices to enhance overall supply chain efficiency.Audits and maintains Roadnet/NTS database regularly to ensure accuracy.Other duties and projects as assigned. Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, AptitudeSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Access). Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Strong organizational skills. Knowledge of industry best practices in routing and logistics.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field required.Minimum of 3+ years of experience in logistics, routing, or transportation management. Experience with routing software and transportation management systems (Omnitracs, PCS, AS400-NTS, Samsara) preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
