Position Overview

Leading as the Royal Navy Sailing Centre Principal and Waterfront Manager. The post holder will be responsible for the successful delivery of customer-focused service to Military Personnel, incorporating on HMS Excellent, Portsmouth. Overseeing and delivering a range of water sports course and experiences, i.e., Sailing, Powerboat, Dinghy, Paddlesport courses.

Main Responsibilities

 

Act as the lead Subject Matter Expert for all Water Sports activities, promoting best practice, and delivering the contracted requirement to the appropriate quality standard and the agreed service levels, including the completion of internal checks, controls, RYA compliance auditing and Liaising without side agencies. Coordinate, implement and deliver yearly training programme of all water activity. Identify and implement innovative solutions to meet the emerging demands of the business within contractual boundaries. Attend relevant RYA Principal updates with either the Forces Coaches or RYA Conferences. Identify and recruit essential staff into an established dynamic and specialised team when needed. Ensure all activities are carried out in full compliance with current RYA, Paddlesport UK remits, and ratios Health and Safety Regulations. Undertake any additional tasks as determined by the Line Manager, including leading on change to meet the emerging needs of the business, and authorised Public Events

 

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will be well-organised, precise, confident with credible communication skills readily able and willing to contribute at all levels.  In addition, the individual will be versatile, intuitive, and professional with good judgement and absolute integrity.  Pro-active and persuasive when required and responsive to changing needs of the business and demands of the customer, while remaining calm under pressure and self-motivated, the incumbent will be reliable and well presented, giving a positive image of MITIE company values.  In addition, the following is needed:

 

Management experience with good organisational and motivational skills and a high degree of integrity. Holds RYA Dinghy Senior Instructor. Holds relevant First Aid Qualification (Desired) Proven track record of delivering quality administration and service with customer facing experience. Persuasive and credible verbal and written communicator with the ability to develop close working relationships. IT literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office applications.

 

Proactive approach and the ability to embrace and lead on change. Ability to manage short notice changes to requirements and deadline. Management level knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and practice (IOSH - Managing Safely) Good standard of education, preferably to NVQ Level 5 or equivalent. Holds at least RYA Powerboat Instructor, Advanced Powerboat Instructor (Desired). Holds Paddlesport UK qualifications. (Desired)

 

Additional Information

MOD security clearance and DBS Standard required (Proof of right to work in UK essential)

The Contract operates a 37.5 hour working week between the hours of 0700 and 1700 Mon to Fri.   The current working hours allow for an early finish on a Friday and the actual working daily hours will be indicated and directed by the Line Manager.

Required to wear approved company work wear.
