Royalty Specialist
We are searching for a Royalty Specialist to perform a variety of royalty management related functions in accordance with standard procedures within the accounting department, including internal and external customer support and relations. In this role you will work proactively with and support all business units to ensure all tasks related to royalty compliance are performed in an accurate and timely fashion and with adherence to the company’s franchise agreements and policies.
What you will do:
Support the accuracy and efficiency of the royalty process including new license set-up and training, monthly reporting compliance, recurring bank draft processing, account reconciliations, and monitoring for delinquent reporting & paymentsServe as a liaison between Royalty team and Accounts Receivable team, BDCs, Audit team, Legal/Contracts team, and Franchise Development team to ensure adherence to royalty policies along with accurate recordkeeping and processes within royalty management software (FranConnect)Responsible for monitoring and reporting franchise compliance with remittance policies for SM brandsResponsible for ensuring royalty payment history is accurately recorded in both royalty management software (FranConnect) and accounting software (Workday); including but not limited to reconciling legacy royalty history as well as current royalty activityTake appropriate action with delinquent accounts and helps franchisees with account reconciliation issuesProvide high level of customer service including answering account questions and resolving concerns via ZenDesk, email, and live phone callsPerform monthly reconciliations of royalty management software compared to accounting software (reconciles FranConnect and Workday) along with producing corresponding reports and other reports as needed for management and accountingPerform duties and supports special projects as directed and requested by manager or director, including preparation for royalty software transitionWhat you will bring:
Customer Service – knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction with a commitment to excellence.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey information effectively as well as understand information and ideas presented through verbal and written communicationSelf-motivated with the ability to complete multiple tasks with minimal supervision and manage one’s own timeAbility to handle complex customer issues in a professional mannerExcellent negotiating skills with sensitivity to public relationsAbility to analyze account issues and present analysis in a concise manner.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to utilize appropriate analysis, judgement and logic.Ability to work in a team setting and meet deadlines in a face-paced environment.Strong Excel and Microsoft 365 Office skillsHigh School Diploma or equivalent is required; Associates degree in accounting or combination of education and equivalent experience is preferred but not requiredExperience in accounting processes or customer service is required.Location: This role is hybrid based in Lansing, MI or in our Atlanta corporate headquarters.
