General Function:
The Ron Pearson Center Sales Manager leads the sales and client engagement efforts for the Ron Pearson Center (RPC), ensuring exceptional customer service while maximizing event revenue. This role is responsible for prospecting and securing new business, managing all aspects of event bookings from initial inquiry through contract execution, and maintaining accurate event and booking data. The Sales Manager collaborates with clients to create customized event experiences, develops and implements sales strategies, monitors market trends, and recommends pricing and promotional initiatives to optimize revenue.

Accountable and Reports to: Director, Ron Pearson Center & Conferences

Primary Responsibilities:

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service to all guests of the RPC.

Answer internal and external questions about the RPC via phone, email, and all other inquiries.

Meets with potential customers and provides facility tours.

Follows up with potential customers by sending all requested RPC information in a timely manner.

Work with clients on customizing event packages and services.

Compiles and completes event contracts. Sends completed contract information to clients.

Communicates with event contacts before and after each event including sending handwritten thank-you letters.

Maintains and keeps current all RPC booking software information, including website, contracts, Banquet Event Orders, event details, cost estimates, and menus.

Oversees RPC calendar. Books dates on RPC calendar for all events.

Design, recommend, and implement sales policies, customer service protocols, and event booking procedures to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Regularly review and update RPC sales processes to align with industry best practices and evolving client needs.

Develop and recommend pricing strategies, discount policies, and promotional offers for RPC events to optimize revenue.

Annual audit of competitor pricing.

Identify new business opportunities through data analysis and market trends; make recommendations to RPC leadership for new services or offerings.

Recommend and lead selection of agreements with advertising partners, marketing vendors, and promotional agencies.

Reviews and maintains all advertising for the RPC.

Make budget recommendations related to marketing expenditures, sales initiatives, and client acquisition efforts.

Analyze event sales data to develop monthly and quarterly revenue forecasts; prepare reports for RPC Director and senior management.

Drives revenue for the RPC through the sale of events.

Collects all billable event information following events and works with the Conference Services Manager to confirm accuracy for invoicing.

Oversee bar financials for each event.

Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in Event Management/Event Sales with 3-5 years previous sales-related work experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.

Must be able to climb, balance, kneel, reach, stand, walk, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive movement.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed for events.

Working Conditions:
Duties of this position are performed in an office and food service setting. There is frequent pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a day.

Contacts:
Frequent contact with Hy-Vee management employees, outside customers, vendors, and advertising contacts.
