Ryco Foreman

As the Ryco Foreman, you will be a vital member at one of our Alaskan processing facilities responsible for rebuilding, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and adjusting Ryco seafood processing equipment. This includes all models of Ryco Headers, Gutters, Auto-Feeders, Fillet machines, Glazers, Conveyors, Pin bone machines & Vacuum Pumps. You will manage a team of Ryco operators or technicians, ensure equipment efficiency and safety, and coordinate with other plant personnel to optimize production processes. This position requires communicating effectively with plant Safety, Quality and Production departments.    

Essential Functions/Qualifications  

The responsibilities of the position include the following:  

Inspect, repair and rebuild Ryco equipment and assemblies.   Inspect, diagnose, and repair machine electrical systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.   Adjust machine setting and tolerances to achieve a high level of quality with optimal recovery.   Assist in training machine operators in safe practices.  Manage, track and order spare parts inventory as needed. Perform mechanical audits of equipment and provide a verbal or written assessment of findings.   Accurately document all machine maintenance performed, parts used, settings and actions taken.   Communicate effectively with department leads and management.    Other duties as assigned to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.

Education and Experience  

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required. A minimum of 5 years industry experience maintaining, trouble shooting and rebuilding Ryco machinery.  Experience safely operating shop tools and equipment such as power tools, drill press, grinders, cutting torches, etc. Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel & Word) programs preferred.  Basic fabrication and welding ability preferred. Experience safely operating shop tools and equipment such as power tools, drill press, grinders, cutting torches, etc.  Must have the ability to adjust machinery during production to achieve quality standards and production goals.    

Work Environment and Schedule  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Position requires onsite presence at our Alaska Processing Facility, and the ability to travel, spending a significant amount of time during the season at our various locations and processing facilities in Alaska. 

Physical Demands  

This role is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employees are frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

The employee is frequently required to work both independently and with others as a team. Presentation and sharing of information should be handled directly, appropriately and helpfully. Maintains a reputation for honesty, confidentiality, reliability, and fairness. Is willing to admit mistakes and does not misrepresent him/herself for personal gain.
