DuPont Safety & Construction is recruiting for a **Millwright Mechanic/Pipe Fitter** to join our Ion Exchange Resins manufacturing team in Midland, Michigan.
As part of DuPont's Safety and Construction portfolio, the Water Solutions business provides purification and separations technology into multiple market channels. Ion Exchange Resins are primarily used for water purification, food & beverage processing, and pharmaceuticals manufacturing. These resins are also heavily used in power generation facilities that supply electrical power to consumers around the world. Safety & Construction is a leading provider of engineered products and integrated systems for the construction, worker safety, energy, oil & gas, transportation, water purification and medical markets.
The Millwright Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing a variety of process and rotating equipment used in industrial processing. The mechanical equipment may include ANSI pumps, various types of compressors, blowers, fans, gearboxes, mixers, extruders, glass lined vessels, and agitators. S/he must be comfortable performing hands-on field work to determine cause of equipment failure, locate spare parts, and install spare parts using repair procedures and machinist techniques for alignment. S/he must also be competent in the use of the maintenance tools to include measuring tools such as inside/outside micrometers, depth gauges, etc., for shaft to shaft alignment. Procedure use - this includes field use, review, revise, and development of procedures.
As a Millwright Mechanic/Pipe Fitter, you will:
+ Perform safe maintenance to rotating equipment, including: pumps, compressors, ventilation, agitators, seals, hoists, etc.
+ Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to glass lined steel equipment
+ Bolt/unbolt piping and equipment, perform proper torque and gasketing techniques
+ Interprets isometric drawings, P&IDs, schematics and equipment drawings related to pumps, valves, agitators and motors.
+ Dismantle equipment when required for repair or transportation and reassemble it at the appropriate time
+ Move equipment to appropriate site for repair or maintenance to avoid contamination or workplace safety hazards
+ Align and calibrate machinery and equipment parts as required for efficient and safe operation
+ Perform basic fabrication and welding for machine guarding and pipe hangers
+ Perform some simple rigging tasks
+ Assemble and installs equipment such as shafting, and conveyors
+ Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and fork trucks.
+ Perform laser alignment on rotating equipment
+ Fabricate, install or replace piping/tubing systems for a variety of operations including building/site steam and condensate, air and nitrogen supplies, RO/DI water, low and high pressure reactor systems, metallic and lined process piping systems, cylinder gas manifolds and delivery systems, etc.
+ Cut, threads, and deburrs pipe with hand and powered threading machines. Works with black iron pipe and stainless steel.
+ Perform quality assurance self-inspections to ensure work is within specifications and tolerances.
+ Work at heights in a boom or scissor type lifts.
+ Work with copper and stainless tubing, bending and fabricating as needed.
+ Secure piping with hangers, clamps and brackets to concrete or structural steel
+ Perform a variety of duties which may change often
+ Work directly with plant and maintenance engineers, construction manager and/or planner to offer suggestions on potential equipment design or fabrication technique improvements.
+ Assist in the implementations and improvement of effective preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, performing scheduled maintenance on facilities and production equipment as required
+ Data tracking & entry in SAP (labor hours, parts, detailed comments)
Job Qualification
+ A minimum of a High School Diploma, or G.E.D. is required; 2-year Technical/Trade School degree in Mechanical field or Electrical Technology or equivalent is preferred
+ A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Industrial or Chemical manufacturing and/or Michigan Plant Operations or military equivalent is preferred
+ Previous related work experience as a Process Mechanic or Pipe Fitter in an industrial setting is preferred
+ Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is required
+ A Journeyman Certification in at least one of the following skill sets: (Pipefitting, Instrumentation, or Mechanical) is strongly preferred
+ Must be able to lift and move objects that weigh up to 50 lbs. exert up to 75 pounds pull, (with or without accommodation) is required
+ Must be willing and able to wear protective equipment for extended periods such as hard hats, goggles, respirators, gloves, heat resistant hot suits, etc. is required
+ This role is located in Midland, MI and may require less than 5% of travel
