The Systems Engineer II position provides support to the engineering and maintenance of the organization's systems infrastructure, including supporting the design and implementation of hardware and software while monitoring the performance of deployed systems. The position assists with architectural documentation, Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) documentation and validation, STIG compliance, status reports and updates. The System Engineer work with the SAMP Task Lead in coordination amongst resources and stakeholders for the testing and validation of system upgrades and modifications for new projects and existing deployments. This position also supports configuration and change managements processes; and ensures project/action plans, updates/upgrade tasks, and potential issues are briefed to appropriate stakeholders.

Responsibilities Provide support for integrating additional tools into the SAMP IBM Tivoli NetCool system. Provide advisement to users and review user produced Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials regarding the use of IBM NetCool. Facilitate systems analysis, design review, configuration, documentation and implementation of system applications and related SAMP IBM Tivoli NetCool system concepts. Provide support for Command Cyber Readiness Inspections (CCRI) as necessary in relation to the SAMP product suite. Support the organic and/or contracted efforts relating to the expansion of SAMP monitoring systems and provide assistance to integration contractors with migration/transition tasks. Qualifications 3 – 5 years in managing, implementing, and administering situational awareness software suites such as IBM’s Network Operations Insight Suite preferred. Experience with other network monitoring tools such as HP OpenView, NetIQ, or SolarWinds is helpful. Experience in managing, implementing, and administering NetIQ AppManager 9.0 and subcomponents. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in: IBM DB2 Windows Server 2012 or greater Scripting (Perl, JavaScript, HTML) Must possess understanding of data communications, local/wide-area networking systems (i.e. routers, switches, etc.) Thorough understanding of Internet Protocol (IP) routing, switching and the OSI model. Experience with network management tools such as HP IMCS, Solarwinds, What’s Up Gold, etc. Ability to coordinate activities across multiple agencies while prioritizing critical/high-priority taskings.
