Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the HOPES SafeCare Coordinator, the SafeCare Parent Educator is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the SafeCare Home Visiting curriculum and incorporate all elements of the SafeCare model under the HOPES Program. Some evening hours will be required to ensure families have access to visits and meetings. *** Contribute to and support: Hospitality, Accessibility, Advocacy, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging.

Basic Responsibilities:

1. Obtain and maintain certification in SafeCare curriculum administration.

2. Learn and demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the SafeCare Model and the 4 Modules.

3. Conduct personal visits (50-90 minutes) using the SafeCare curriculum on a weekly basis with each family.

4. Plan visits using the SafeCare Provider Manual Session Outlines, gather materials, travel, conduct session, and accurately document the session and the progress on the appropriate SafeCare assessment forms.

5. Provide case management and crisis intervention services as needed by the family.

6. Maintain a caseload of 12 to 15 families with at least one visit per week for each.

7. Develop and maintain a community resource network in order to be able to link families to needed services and supports.

8. Keeping SafeCare program coordinator appraised on child/family progress and/or issues and concerns as they arise.

9. Maintain and submit all required family and program documentation within 48 hours of visit.

10. Maintain confidential files for assigned participants.

11. Meet a minimum of once a month with supervisor for SafeCare coaching sessions and/or Reflective Supervision.

12. Help families transition to other services upon the completion of the SafeCare Model as needed.

13. Complete annually required competency-based professional development hours.

14. Use stated policies and procedures to report suspected child abuse or neglect.

15. Use a family-centered approach to address sensitive issues with families according to service plan implementation.

16. Provide teaching assistance to families on a practical level in life skills areas.

17. Recognize the need for professional intervention that is non-judgmental, and motivated to learn from direct experience as well as from training and supervision.

18. Other duties as assigned by supervisor, director, and/or management.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, social work or a related field.

2. Supervised experience working with young children and/or parents.

3. Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication skills required. Proven comfort level with public presentations.

4. Follows instruction and good follow through abilities.

5. Ability to work well with others and in a team environment.

6. Bilingual capabilities desired.

7. Must be able to successfully clear a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
