Job Description Summary:
Our Senior Manager, SES (Safety, Environment and Security) will be responsible for the development and implementation of required safety, health, environmental, sustainability, security and related management system programs and processes.
The successful candidate will plan and oversee Safety, Regulatory and Environmental related compliance programs and/or projects, be responsible for Regulatory and Environmental activities with government regulatory agencies (federal, provincial, local regulatory requirements) and may serve as an official representative of the organization for contacting governmental officials. Indirectly leads entire facility as the responsible plant leader for Safety, Environmental & Security activities.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Safety Culture: Administration of Company Safety Goals & Initiatives to provide our associates with an environment that provides a safe workplace; promoting safe work habits
Environmental: Managing site environmental impact including Wastewater program, regulatory reporting requirements, hazardous waste disposal, storm water adherence, industrial hygiene compliance, and others relevant compliances
Security: Ensure that the site is secure by utilizing available tools and resources as well as third party Security services
Sustainability: Tracking, monitoring and reporting facilities water and energy use, recycling programs, and carbon emissions plans. Participate and contribute to continuous improvement programs in each of these areas
Duties
Facilitate Risk Assessment Process (FMEA, Health & Safety Risks, Environmental Aspects and Impacts) to mitigate risks
Conduct or respond to health and safety assessments/analyses in plant to minimize health and safety risks, with KORE standard and applicable legislations
Effectively translate safety and sustainability goals and objectives to all levels of the organization ensuring alignment on relevant performance data
Ensure facility compliance of all environmental programs; internal and external and regulatory
Lead safety, environmental and security audits for the site including dairy, juice and warehouse operations
Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with provincial and local regulatory agencies. Represent company on regulatory issues with impact outside local plant
Prepare for handling plant emergency situations by medical response program and emergency response organization including management of injured workers – drive training and constantly improve Emergency response plan
Serve as a site member for the crisis management team by directing efforts when requested, offering recommendations, completing communication, including government regulators or agencies
Develop strategies to effectively meet all requirements of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 programs and standards as well as those internal Coca-Cola related
Lead internal and external audits, Coordinate and communicate findings to management staff, and ensure items of non-conformance are addressed and corrected according to schedule
Effectively translate safety and sustainability goals and objectives to all levels of the organization ensuring alignment on relevant performance data
Routinely review safety and sustainability results with plant personnel to maximize facility performance
Foster an environment that supports an engaged safety and sustainability culture, drive occupational health program
Participate in industry organizations to stay current on technologies, process and regulations
Seek, share and adopt ideas and best practices in and outside the Company and embrace change introduced by others
Design, implement and execute programs and processes to protect the safety and health of employees, manage contractors’ safety/orientation
Support or lead projects, as assigned
Ensure facility compliance with good environmental practices
Ensure facility compliance with applicable regulations
Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with provincial and local regulatory agencies. Represent company on regulatory issues with impact outside local plant
Build effective and impactful Safety Committee that is employee driven and fosters engagement and value for all employees
Handling of any Worker’s Comp issues on site, including communications with the employee, medical treatment professionals, and Worker’s comp insurance administrators. Strong case management skills
Regularly interact with corporate SES teams for reporting, sharing and learning to grow site’s SES capabilities
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Related Discipline
Minimum 7 years of experience in safety, environmental processes and procedures
Prefer degree in Environment Sciences/Management and/or Occupational Safety Management
Prefer Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other applicable certification
Prefer experience in federal, provincial and local legislation regarding safety and Environmental regulatory requirements
Knowledge of procedures used to anticipate, recognize, evaluate and control physical, chemical, biological and ergonomic hazards
Requirements:
At least 10 years of increasing levels of manager roles of people & processes
Knowledge of technical practices and programs used in the reduction of workplace hazards
Knowledge of worker safety regulations as they relate to manufacturing
Ability to design, develop and implement effective management systems
Knowledge of procedures used to anticipate, recognize, evaluate and control physical, chemical, biological and ergonomic hazards
Working knowledge of federal, provincial, and local regulatory requirements
Strong knowledge base of WSIB processes/procedures
Knowledge of ISO standards and Audits
Preferred:
Lean, Six Sigma hands-on knowledge & experience
Food or beverage manufacturing experience
Expertise in behavioral safety
Specialized Technical Skills:

Industrial hygiene
Environmental regulations
