Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Safety, Health, and Environment Auditor (Line of Defence 2) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for auditing compliance with SHE standards across UL sites, including factories, distribution centres, offices, and R&D facilities. This role requires extensive travel with colleagues and expertise in SHE standards to ensure our sites meet the highest levels of compliance and UL’s market leading commitments to Safety, Health and the Environment are realised.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive SHE audits at various company sites globally.Evaluate compliance with internal and external SHE standards and regulations.Identify areas of non-compliance and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.Support preparation of detailed audit reports for presentation to senior management.Support site management to develop and implement corrective action plans.Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure continuous improvement.Stay updated on the latest internal and external SHE standards and regulations and best practices.Suggest continuous improvements to (Line of Defence 2) Audit programme to improve effectiveness and efficiencyRequired Skills and Competencies:
Technical Expertise:In-depth knowledge of SHE standards (e.g Process Safety, Environmental compliance and Occupational Health and safety Management) and regulations. This includes global and local regulations relevant to the audited sites.Experience with SHE auditing processes and methodologiesAbility to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements and how they apply to specific site operationsSpecialist technical experience in Process Safety or Environmental or Industrial Hygiene is essential.Analytical Skills:Ability to comprehend a site risk profileStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Attention to detail and ability to identify potential risks and non-compliance issues.Communication Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to prepare clear and concise audit reports.Strong presentation skills to effectively communicate findingsInterpersonal Skills:Ability to work collaboratively with site teams and senior management.Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in diverse environments.Personal SkillsStrong commitment to ethical standards and integrityHealthy curiosity to get the bottom of issuesOrganizational Skills:Ability to manage multiple audits and prioritize tasks effectively.Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.Professional Qualifications:Qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor) are highly desirable.Experience in SHE, Auditing, Engineering or a related field.Additional Requirements:
