Huntsville, AL, USA | Full Time Job Title: Safety and Environmental Specialist Location : Huntsville, AL (On-Site) Canvas is seeking a Safety and Environmental Specialist with a solid background in safety, occupational health, and environmental compliance. *This position is contingent upon award. * Duties: + Instrumental in planning, maintaining, and implementing a comprehensive safety and occupational health program. + Self-motivated, professional, and adept at managing workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced corporate setting with a strong commitment to safety and compliance. + Daily Responsibilities Include: + Developing Safety Standards: Creating safety criteria, guidelines, and standards across various topics + Compliance and Reporting: Developing reports, conducting inspections, surveys, and managing adherence to Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) requirements. + Safety Recommendations: Offering recommendations and feedback on safety issues. + Hazard Analysis: Conducting in-depth surveys of safety programs, identifying, and analyzing safety and environmental hazards. + Regulatory Compliance: Reviewing and updating safety policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance with current directives. + Record Keeping: Maintaining records of accidents and incidents, preparing reports, and managing documentation necessary for organizational activities. + Safety Audits: Conducting safety audits, fire extinguisher inspections, and checking first aid kits and other safety equipment. Requirements: + Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. + Minimum 5 years of Safety Management experience. + Ability to use and interpret safety laws, rules and regulations + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. + Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance. + Master's degree in related field. (desired) + Regulatory Expertise: Deep knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations. (desired) + Documentation Management: Ability to acquire and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and related regulatory requirements. (desired) Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Other Essential Job Functions: Some travel may be required.
