Summary

Perdue Farms is expanding our Safety & Security team! We are actively looking for a Safety and Security Manager (Live Production) to support live operations. The Safety and Security Manager (Live Production) leads safety & security efforts for the assigned live operations facilities by maintaining a world-class culture through continuous improving safety processes. We are looking for a technical expert to partner with operations leadership to deliver operational results through impactful safety, health, and security solutions. The role will reside in the central North Carolina area near a major airport. 

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities Leads all safety & security efforts for assign Live operations facilities (hatcheries, feedmills, and live production operations).  Manages, develops, executes, implements, and promotes a safety culture and behavioral based safety program throughout live production in conjunction with the collocated safety director. Partner with the Perdue Agribusiness safety teams at cohabitated feed mill sites to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate standards. Directly leads & manages, safety for live production operations non-manufacturing facilities located within the vicinity of the primary assignment. Develop and deliver training programs to engage and educate leaders across the organization on safety management systems, promoting a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement. Provides technical expertise for cross functional teams to ensure safe operational processes and capital/engineering projects. Collaborates with functional experts in vehicle safety, corporate security, environmental, PSM, and other areas to align facility activities and objectives. Provides interpretations for OSHA, NFPA, DHS, DOT, and other pertinent regulations to ensure processes and policies comply with applicable laws and regulations. Continuously interacts with the hourly work force to promote safety awareness, drive associate engagement, and ensure a world-class safety culture exists within the operations supported.  Works aggressively to resolve safety issues and concerns. Leads site safety business plan development by analyzing relevant data and tracking/reporting facility and corporate KPIs/metrics.  Validates plan’s actions through internal safety and security auditing tracking findings through closure. Provides training support to Live Production and garages to ensure that all required safety and security training is effectively completed on time. Ensures effective investigations on all safety and security incidents are completed, participating actively during complex and high impact investigations. Ensures root cause is determined and appropriate corrective actions developed, tracking recommendations to closure.  Utilizes incident data to develop action plans to address hazards and emerging trends. Liaisons for 3rd party assessments, audits, & inspections, i.e. insurance carrier, local fire department, risk engineering firms, OSHA, DHS, etc. Conduct regular site inspections and audits at live sites in assigned region, identifying safety and security risks, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement in workplace safety. Builds relationship with occupational health/medical; to improve associate safety, wellness, and case management for supported sites. Actively involved in worker’s compensation, assisting the occupational health nurse/third party administrator in effectively managing all open claims. Keeps the management team informed of any safety, health, and security related issues and/or concerns identified within scope of responsibility. Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory updates in safety and security management, incorporating relevant advancements into operational practices. Minimum Education A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Safety & Heath, or Industrial Health Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or Agricultural Science. Experience Requirements 5+ years’ experience in safety and security management, demonstrated experience leading a world-class safety program which has achieved <1.0 TRIR. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Industrial and grain handling safety & health knowledge. Thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements. Strong organizational skills. Excellent grammar and writing skills. Proven ability to lead and influence others. Ability to establish positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and motivate employees and communicate objectives and action plans. Ability to research pertinent facts, data, and other information from internal and external sources. Proficient use of computer and corresponding programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OHM, SAP. Ability to implement behavioral-based safety techniques to improve/maintain safety performance. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain. Ability to speak English (Spanish a plus). Experience leading teams to achieve safety and security objectives. Proven track record of supporting multiple facilities and driving continuous improvement in safety and security performance. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to safety, vehicle safety, and security management. Experience Preferred Multi-site safety management experience. A Master’s degree in Environment, Safety & Health, Business, or Science.  Professional safety or security certifications from Certified from the Board of Safety Professional (CSP) or the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).  Bilingual capabilities and experience working in live production facilities.
