Summary:
The DC Safety (EHS) & Asset Protection (AP) Manager is an integral part of the DC’s leadership team and is responsible for leading efforts that ensure the safety and security of the workplace for Advance Auto Parts team members (TMs), temporary workers, visitors and vendors. The EHS/AP Manager is responsible for risk mitigation, planning for and providing real-time support and communication should there be a security breach or any other critical safety event. The EHS/AP Manager is accountable for reducing TM injury rates, security, shrink/damage control and helping improve the inventory accuracy of the DC. This position requires the ability to influence, teach, coach and train others. In addition, the EHS/AP Manager is responsible for ensuring operational and procedural compliance, auditing, hazmat compliance, conducting investigations, managing and proposing solutions to mitigate injuries/losses as well as presenting key findings to leadership. Core duties and responsibilities of the position are outlined below; however, duties may change at any time to support the needs of the business.
Maintain and develop partnerships with DC leadership, CSC and cross functional teams Develop site specific loss control strategies to prevent and reduce hazards and losses for the DC. Investigate the cause of incidents, including injuries, shrink/inventory concerns, security threats, powered industrial truck incident, and near misses, and partner with DC leadership to develop corrective measures and controlsAssist with property protection controls, including fire protection standards & controls, disaster and business continuity plans and training along with coordinating external fire & HPR (highly protected risks) inspections. Proficiency in DC’s WMS and understand all aspects of DC operations Actively support, coordinate and promote the company’s safety, ethics and integrity programs Prepare and present training courses and educate team on safety, shrink, defectives and inventory control along with how to prepare and respond to critical incidents – Hazmat, Weather, Active Shooter, Civil Unrest, etc.… Conduct operational audits as required ·Help maintain current required OSHA programs and provide management with this information for dissemination. Keep managers and associates alerted as to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals, and any other hazardous substances. Implement, manage, and measure various internal environmental programs and compliance with governmental regulations Present to DC Leadership the outcomes of audits and loss trends along with recommendations for improvement Conduct Physical Security walks to ensure our DC security controls & procedures are being adhered to Create and build relationships with local law enforcement and health care centers. Assist with and be the SME related to book to physical (inventory tie out) activities in the DC Ownership of all internal investigations & interviews related to safety incidents and theft/fraud. Review and monitor CCTV and Access Control Systems
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This position is an onsite (DC) position reporting to the Regional Sr. EHS/AP Manager.This position requires quick thinking, strong problem solving in potentially high stress situations Knowledge of federal, state, province, and OSHA regulations and procedures on a multi-state basis Knowledge of loss control strategies related to worker’s compensation regulations, general liability, auto, property, crime and 3rd party administrators and their operations is essential Strong leadership skills – strategic, proactive and growth minded Capable of independently working and collaborating on location, with direct supervisor being off-site Strong partnership, interpersonal and collaboration skills Strong business and financial acumen Proficient knowledge of internal investigation processes and methodologies in a retail/DC environment Excellent communication skills required, in order to appropriately communicate with individuals of differing knowledge levels (e.g., DC associates, management, doctors, attorneys, etc.) Must be self-motivated with highly-effective time management and organization skills Strong Microsoft Office Skills
Recommended Experience:
College degree in Criminal Justice, Safety or Occupational Health, or other related programs Prior retail or distribution center is preferred
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:
Associate Safety Professional (or higher) certification highly preferred (or obtain within a year) Wicklander-Zulawski certified (or obtain within 3 months of hire) Understanding of Six Sigma process with a Black or Green Belt certification are a plus. CFI/CFE/LPQ/LPC is preferred
