Downer Rail and Transit Systems (RTS) is excited to be looking for a Safety Assurance Manager to welcome into our Engineering & Technology Team. This is due to an increased workload from recent project wins. The Safety Assurance Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring our Zero Harm values are adhered to, and that we remain compliant to system safety, regulatory and customer requirements. Working within the Engineering & Technology team, you will have a network of experienced SME’s available to support you, and as such this role may suit someone with a rollingstock background, or similar. 

This is a fulltime, permanent role, based in Brisbane, QLD

About the Role:
Reporting to the Discipline Manager of Safety Assurance, you will be responsible for conducting activities relevant to System Safety Assurance & Human Factors activities of the assigned assets. These activities may include, but not be limited to;

Coordinate and perform safety assurance and human factors analysis of the rollingstock and facilities Administration of the hazard log database and reporting Interface and liaison with internal and external stakeholders  Chair the Safety Assurance Working Group meeting, ONRSR engagement meeting as well as ISA engagement meetings Report on Safety and Human Factors matter in the daily management meeting Assist the Technical Director on safety and human factors matters at the weekly senior level Visual Management Center Report on design package review comments closure for rollingstock and facilities from all upstream and downstream reviewing parties Ensure that sufficient evidence can be provided to support all activities noted in 50126 RAMS process. Development of final safety case for certification Attending site-based safety assurance audits on occasion

About You:

Degree qualification in Engineering, Technology or equivalent discipline 10+ years of experience working with safety assurance systems. Background in railway/rollingstock operations (desired) Knowledge of Australian Railway standards (EN50126, EN50128 & EN50129, AS4292) Knowledge of RISSB Hazards register Experience working with an Independent Safety Assessor  Leadership skills and previous people management experience Engineers’ Australia membership (desired)
