Preferred Education and Experience OSHA 10 Hour / OSHA 30 Hour Certification* EPA RCRA Waste Management Certification (Annual Course)* DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation Certification (Tri-Annual Course, Ground Shipments)* First Aid/CPR Certification (Bi-Annual Course)* *If not already certified, it is required that employees achieve this certification within the first 90 days of employment and/or assignment to the role. The Safety Coordinator provides support related to safety and training to production supervisors and management, and serves as a liaison between the plant and Corporate EHS
Job Responsibilities Calculate and/or track monthly safety related data Update the OSHA 300 and 300A Inspect safety related equipment Audit site safety signs, area markings, and mirrors. Replace as necessary Conduct environmental inspections Conduct training sessions, including new hire orientation, annual regulatory topics, and OJT Train the Trainer, on all shifts Communicate and track internal training requirements; assess training gaps Work with the OJT program document owners on document revisions and OJT 90-day competency evaluations Facilitate the Safety Committee meetings, and maintain the minutes Conduct monthly safety audits with appropriate members of the management team. Document corrective actions Participate in incident investigations. Create one page summaries for distribution Create, distribute, and track safety talks and single point lessons Ensure monthly chemical inventory is conducted and documented by chemical suppliers. Complete related annual environmental reports, including, but not limited to Tier II and Form R Coordinate annual hearing testing, evacuation drills, and other regulatory tasks as directed Assist in development of “task based” LOTO Procedures Update electronic safety message boards Regularly meet with Maintenance to prioritize safety work orders Maintain Hazard ID and Safety Observation Logs and follow up on items Maintain accurate and complete files, including inspections, written programs, and reports. Communicate effectively Update the Safety Data Sheets in MSDS Online Complete clerical tasks related to Process Safety Management All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures All GLC employees are expected to produce and promote our products and services in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager Required Education and Experience High School diploma or GED. General understanding of manufacturing processes and related equipment. Ability to make decisions based on standard practices. Ability to regularly create and update electronic documents. Experience with Microsoft Windows Applications Basic computer skills, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
