The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety and environmental programs to ensure a safe workplace and regulatory compliance. This role will collaborate across departments to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility while ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
ResponsibilitiesSafety Management:
Develop, implement, and continuously update safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards, and recommend corrective actions.Lead safety training for new hires, as well as ongoing education & training for all staff on safety protocols and procedures.Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and maintain necessary safety records.Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to identify root causes, and develop preventive and corrective actions.Foster a proactive safety culture through regular safety meetings, communications, and recognition programs.
Environmental Compliance:
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including waste management, air and water quality standards, and hazardous material handling.Maintain records and documentation for environmental inspections, permits, and compliance reports.Collaborate with operations and facilities teams to reduce environmental impact and implement sustainable practices.Conduct environmental audits and inspections, addressing any compliance issues or improvement opportunities.Stay current on environmental regulations and implement changes to processes and practices as needed.
Training and Documentation:
Develop and conduct training programs on safety and environmental compliance topics.Maintain accurate documentation for compliance purposes, including incident reports, training records, and environmental inspection logs.Prepare reports and data analysis for management review, highlighting key safety and environmental metrics and improvement opportunities.
Continuous Improvement and Reporting:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to safety and environmental performance.Generate reports on safety incidents, environmental compliance, and key performance metrics.Act as the main point of contact for external safety and environmental audits and inspections. QualificationsQualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.Certification in Safety Management (e.g., OSHA, CSP) or Environmental Compliance (e.g., CESM, CHMM) preferred.3+ years of experience in a safety and/or environmental compliance role in manufacturing or industrial settings.Knowledge of OSHA, EPA regulations, and best practices for safety and environmental compliance.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.

Proficiency with safety and environmental management software.Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.Ability to lead safety and environmental training and promote compliance across teams.
