Position Details
The Safety Coordinator provides consistent and regular (daily) field presence across all Tilson job sites. They are skilled at developing a safety mindset in others. They are positive and work with optimism. The Safety Coordinator reports to the Regional Safety Manager and works closely with frontline employees and Supervisors. They assist with the implementation of safety programs and procedures. Their primary focus is to build safety into every aspect of our work. They have experience and knowledge coordinating project safety, and they understand the hazards associated with our operations, including; horizontal drilling, micro trenching, telecom maintenance, aerial and underground construction.
Responsibilities:
Act as a subject matter expert in safety providing support to all levels of the operation. This includes work surrounding micro trenching, horizontal drilling, and associated outside plant operations and specific requirements of the project.
Partner with project leadership on safe work planning, hazard identification, hazard mitigation and training for the success of the project.
Provide regular presence and oversight for all self-perform and subcontractor crews.
Develop and provide safety training for employees.
Assist in the investigation of incidents and develop measures to prevent recurrences.
Develop/refine Task Hazard Analysis (THA) and Method of Procedure (MOP) for hazardous tasks.
Responsible for organizing and assisting with the preparation of safety committee meetings
Assist, plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
Qualifications:
Associates degree strongly preferred and/or 3-5 years experience in safety, training or compliance.
Current OSHA 510 certificate.
Current OSHA 10-hour and/or 30-hour training.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable training groups.
Demonstrated experience in conducting field audits and accident investigations.
Fully proficient in the MS Office suite.
Tilson highly values transferable skills from military experience.
Able to work in varying and harsh weather conditions which may include work at night/weekends.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred but not required:
Smith System Trainer.
Fall Protection experience.
Trenching & Excavation experience.
Forklift/manlift instructor.
Ability to develop in-house training for various topics.
Office/field ergonomics.
CHST designation a plus.

Tilson leads with integrity around pay transparency; as part of the compensation plan for this position you can expect a pay range of:
