Function:

Promote safety culture in place, implementing and overseeing company’s employee safety at work.

This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining health and safety programs to ensure all employees' highest level of compliance. Monitors health and safety regulations and provides technical support and leadership to Area Managers to ensure compliance with internal standards and Federal, State, and Local laws.

About the Role:

Provide direction and make decisions regarding all site safety activities.

Serve as a liaison for regulatory agencies.

Track & report Governance critical metrics (Risk and Health)

Conduct plant safety, and health inspections and on-the-job mentor with operations team members.

Ensure full compliance and adherence to site work permits.

Support preparing required permit applications and renewals and routine agency reports, e.g., noise, vessel under pressure, etc.

Training program delivery and implementation. Includes new hire safety training and annual refresher training for all employees on various safety topics.

Maintain contractor safety program, including the qualification process, orientation, and safety compliance.

Provide mentorship and leadership to the site to improve employee safety engagement.

Support and drive the Behavior Based Safety Program for the site.

Conduct risk assessments and recommend risk reduction and control strategies to site leadership.

Conduct root cause analysis for incidents, accidents, and near misses. Provide corrective actions and lessons learned at the site and corporate level.

Lead and ensure adherence to the internal audit program schedule.

Roll out/embed critical safety and environmental programs throughout site processes and infrastructure, including Zero Harm, SFIP, STPS, NFPA, etc. 

Implement continuous improvement programs related to health, safety, and the environment.

Experience required/Skills/Capabilities/Languages:

Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in Chemical, Environmental, Industrial Engineering or similar

5+ years broad and deep technical experience in HS or equivalent experience in industrial operations.

Excellent knowledge of local regulations and Safety Management System.

Ability to lead all aspects of EHS management systems in production environments, including identification, assessment, control, crisis management, and business recovery plan.

Ability to work independently with minimal direction

Critical thinker and problem solving skills.

Leadership strength in capability development, partner management and union worker relationships.

Excellent communication skills to get along with general management and union worker.

English and Spanish proficiency required.
