About the job:
Kent is looking for a Safety Engineer who will be responsible for the production of process safety engineering deliverables. Typically, works as a Process Safety engineer reporting to the lead engineer on a feasibility, concept, FEED, detailed design or EPC project. Undertakes specified tasks / areas of work dependent on size and complexity of the project, as defined by the lead engineer or project / project engineering manager. Responsible for communicating technical / project issues potentially impacting the project to the lead engineer.
The Safety Engineer is typically accountable to the Principal Engineer or Project Engineer, discipline Lead Engineer, and/or Project Manager, depending on the size and complexity of the Project. The corporate reporting line is to the respective Departmental / Group Manager. We operate a hybrid working model with 3 days in the office and 2 days home working, for our team to develop an effective team dynamic within Engineering.
Skills & Responsibilities:
Undertakes specific tasks/area of work as defined by the lead / principal engineer for Process Safety.Being accountable for the quality of Process Safety deliverablesAchieving project completion to the project specifications on scheduleCoordinate with other Kent offices to manage process safety and loss prevention deliverablesEnsures compliance with Kent’s ISO accredited QMS, and project specific procedures, guides and standards.In consultation with the Process group manager, takes responsibility for identifying own development needs and ensuring that agreed development goals are met, taking due cognisance of project commitments.Responsible for personal training and development in consultation with Process group manager.Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices.Performs related duties as and when instructed by the lead / principal engineer or group manager.Prepare safety studies report with assistance such as QRA, FERA, RAM etc.Prepare and Review loss prevention deliverables such as fire protection philosophy, HAC schedule, PFP schedule layouts, fire water demand calculations, etc.Carry out calculations using Kent Validated spreadsheetScribe safety studies risk workshops such as HAZID, ENVID, HAZOP, SIL etcAble to prepare HAC, PFP, Escape route etc layoutsIn addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Typically, holds a Master’s Degree in chemical engineering or post-graduate Process Safety qualification.Chartered status preferred.Experience of working for engineering/client organisations in the oil and gas industry.Exposure to consultancy, FEED / detailed design and EPC projects.Knowledge of applicable international and industry specifications, standards and codes.Knowledge of safety and quality procedures and best practices.Hand on Experience of running process safety software such as PHAST, Flaresim, RAM Maros etcCommunication:
