Safety Health Environmental and Security Manager (SHES) - West Region\n
Overview\n
Reporting to the SHES Director, this position will support Austin Powder Company (APC) SHES objectives to provide a safe and secure working environment, while extending the highest level of support to APC locations for the West region. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing SHES programs across the West region, including conducting compliance reviews, implementing safety programs, training employees, and ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, while collaborating with LLC management, location managers and APC employees within that region. This includes preserving and protecting all APC employees and assets through effective leadership and communication of Austin Powder SHES goals, program, and initiatives. This role will help Austin Powder comply with requirements from ATF, DHS, OSHA, EPA, MSHA. and applicable Canadian regulations. To this end, this person will work with company leadership to ensure guidelines, policies, and practices are being followed at our locations. They will educate employees on the \"how and why\" of those practices, thereby creating an overall safer, secure, and prepared company.\n
Key Responsibilities and Duties\n\nAbility to uphold the Company's Mission, Vision, and Values, in addition to promoting safety awareness in both work practices and Company culture.\nResponsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with all applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations for the US West Region locations and the Central Canadian division of APC.\nFacilitate strategic partnerships and coordinate emergency planning and preparedness efforts with locations and local, state, and federal partners, as applicable.\nAssist in the development and implementation of Security and Emergency Response procedures, policies, and guidelines.\nProactively lead, plan, and implement the Company's SHES programs, policies and systems to ensure a safe, environmentally responsible, healthy and accident-free work environment.\nCommunicate the SHES goals for APC regional U.S. and Central Canadian businesses. \nCollaborate with Corporate SHES team to develop, implement, and monitor key performance metrics to measure performance and to evaluate SHES program effectiveness within the region.\nSupports regional leadership, management, and employees to ensure company SHES compliance, including leading improvement initiatives. \nRecommendations and assistance to LLC and Regional management with respect to safety improvement plans, job site hazards, employee training, new\/safe equipment operation. \nParticipate in incident investigations and assist with the development of corrective actions.\nCommunicates and escalates appropriate SHES response issues to the local and\/or Corporate Leadership.\nMaintain knowledge of current best practices and changes in regulations\/policies.\nOther duties as assigned.\n\n
Education and Experience \n\nBachelor's degree in Safety\/Environmental\/Health preferred.\nMinimum of five to seven years of managing SHES programs within explosives, manufacturing, or field-related industry required. \n\n
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities \n\nAbility to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the Company.\nDemonstrated experience in SHES or related field, including and as applicable or assigned, regulatory knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, EPA, DOT, ATF compliance, assisting with location audits per APC Safety and Compliance audit program or regulatory agency, developing and following key SHES metrics, developing and leading SHES training, and implementation of applicable SHES programs for the regional APC locations. \nMust have the ability to maintain professional relationship with other company employees, industry trade organizations, and customers.\nExcellent oral and written communications skills.\nStrong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analysis skills.\nFamiliar with Microsoft Office Software.\nMust be able to work flexible hours based on business needs.\nMust possess a valid driver's license and U.S. Passport (or the ability to obtain while onboarding).\nAbility to drive work through others in which one does not have direct leadership over. \n\n
Reporting Relationships\n\nThis position reports directly to the SHES Director and does not have direct reports. \n\n

Work Environment \n\nThis position supports our West Region Field operations (to include territories west of WI, MO, AR).\nWork is both in the office and out in the field.\nMust be able to walk on uneven surfaces, climb and crawl regularly.\nMust be able to kneel, reach, and work at heights exceeding 30 feet.\nWillingness and ability to travel on a scheduled and unscheduled basis.\nWillingness to travel at a minimum of 25% of each year within the United States and Canada.\n\n
Location \n\nThe ideal candidate will be located within the West region and within close proximity to a major airport for travel purposes. \n\n
