Safety Health Environmental Lead

Lead the safety and environmental activities to ensure Leybold is compliant. Help with the facilities to ensure safety, security, and government regulations are met, and provide HR support for wellness and onboarding activities.

Main Responsibilities

Help lead the Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Compliance Program of the company.Ensure the facilities safety & security is following government regulations (i.e., OSHA, etc.).Manage contractor control requirements to ensure safety.Prepare and update the written SHE policy and procedures of the Company under the direction of the Human Resources/Safety Manager.Help complete incident investigations and the preparation of Incident Reports and Root Cause Analysis Reports and track and evaluate incident data and help develop corrective actions and oversee their implementation.Support the implementation and certification of ISO 14001/18001 standards and guide plans.Schedule internal audits of Leybold N. America to ensure that the SHE local & global procedures are being implemented and create reports and recommendations based on findings.Manage daily SHE programs, including safety training onboarding for new employees, PPE, and employee safety training observing OSHA requirements.Maintain and conduct risk assessments and make recommendations for safety improvements following the assessments and work with the managers to ensure incumbents are trained.Complete SHE scorecards monthly; ensure safety and first aid records are maintained.Arrange for inspections of sprinkler system, alarms, fire extinguishers, hoses, and cranes.Administrate Export Safety Team ensuring responsiveness to safety concerns.Provide required training for relevant employees, such as Hazard Communications, Forklift Safety, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, and coordinate the SDS Program, etc.Coordinate Respiratory Fit, Hearing Tests, Medical Surveillance Exams annually, and document.Coordinate first aid/CPR certification and flu shots for Export employees.Coordinate workers' compensation and preventive measures.Ensure cleanliness of and workability of eyewash stations in shop.Coordinate and monitor the environmental program.Record waste stream amounts for environmental management program; prepare waste disposal amounts annually and file annual reports.Coordinate the Safety Shoe/Safety Glass programs and provide PPE, medical supplies, etc.Remain current on industry standards and trends of OSHA and ANSI including CFR 1910 and 1926 and legislation affecting these areas.Lead Safety and Sustainability Committee.Coordinate Wellbeing Activities and Wellness Wednesday programs.Help with the onboarding of new employees (conference room setups, collecting equipment in the event of a separation, etc.).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. You are occasionally at risk of electrical shock and vibration.

While performing the tasks of this job, you will be required to sit, stand, walk, use stairways to climb to multiple floors within office building, and talk or hear. You will occasionally be required to use hands and fingers to type or dial, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms.

You must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Your work will be frequent computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

We ask that there is occasional travel, approximately 5% of the position, often overnight or multiple days.

You will have remote flexibility after training (60% in office/40% remote).

Skills/Knowledge/Education

Education:

Bachelor's degree in safety sciences, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety or related discipline.

Experience:

0-4 years manufacturing industry experience. Consideration may be made for candidates with an associate's degree and experience or certifications such as Certificate in Safety Management (CSM).

Knowledge:

At least one year of supervisory experience or leadership experience.Experience with ISO 14001/18001/45001.

Other Requirements:

Valid driver's licensePeople oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills.Accommodating and able to work under pressure.Project management experience is a plusMotivated with high attention to detailProficiency with MS Office software, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
