Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARY
Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a summer Safety Intern to join our team located in Wheatland, PA. Reporting to the Safety Manager, this internship is designed to give you an understanding of how safety is driven at a Company who prioritizes safety first and has a strong safety culture. You will develop the skills and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation to build a career in the safety field and work with a great group of people who really care about the job you do.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the facility safety culture and improvements by participating in projects or initiatives identified by the site. Assists in safety audits by collaborating with senior health and safety professionals to conduct workplace safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and compliance issues. Collects and analyzes safety data, including incident reports, near misses, and safety performance metrics, and helps in preparing reports and recommendations based on data analysis. Supports the coordination and delivery of safety training programs and workshops for employees, including organizing training materials and tracking employee participation. Maintains and updates safety records, procedures, and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices. Supports incident investigations by gathering information, interviewing witnesses, and assisting in root cause analysis. Participates in the development and testing of emergency response plans and procedures. Contributes to the creation and distribution of safety communication materials and initiatives to promote awareness and safe work practices. Stays current with industry best practices, regulations, and emerging trends in health and safety to contribute ideas and recommendations for continuous improvement. Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy. Performs other duties as they might be assigned. Regular, full-time predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of this role.REQUIREMENTS
