Description:SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

Location:  Rochester, NY
Term:  12-month contract – extendable
Pay Rate:  $35 per hour minimum (based on experience)

Job Description:
The main purpose of this position is to establish a SMS risk matrix as required by the client.  You would be responsible for determining and managing a training course and a process to monitor KPIs and define an action plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Adhere to client’s policies and procedures
•    Develop, advise and report to senior management on safety matters
•    Develop, implement, manage, train and maintain SMS (Safety Management Systems) program
•    Plan and facilitate regulatory approval of SMS program, and support regulatory audits involving SMS
•    Review safety hazards, perform risk analysis and develop contingency plans
•    Maintain safety register and facilitate mitigation/corrective actions
•    Manage, coordinate and coach and provide direction to site safety coordinators
•    Assess effectiveness of SMS deployment
•    Participate in consultative organizations / groups in the industry and lead and coordinate product safety activities
•    Manage strategic projects by coordinating multidisciplinary teams and facilitate problem solving work sessions

Skills and Experience:
•    Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field
•    Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Visio
•    Knowledgeable in FAA, EASA and other international CAA SMS related regulations and international standards (SM-0001)
•    Experience with project management and risk management principles and tools 
•    Possess a strategic outlook and leadership skills
•    Innovative, with strong interpersonal skills
•    Previous experience in project management, aviation regulations a plus
•    English is mandatory

NOTE:  There will be an option to work remotely, but the job would require 3-4 weeks on site at the beginning of the contract.
