Safety Manager

Job Description:

The Safety Manager – Electrical Safety Specialist (SME) is a key leadership role within HITT’s Safety Leadership team. Assigned to a specific region, this individual will manage regional safety operations while serving as HITT’s corporate Subject Matter Expert (SME) for electrical safety. The position provides direct oversight of high-risk electrical activities and ensures compliance with NFPA 70, NEC, OSHA (29 CFR 1926 & 1910), and other regulatory standards.

As a member of HITT’s specialty safety team, the Electrical Safety Specialist contributes to company-wide safety policies, training, and culture, particularly around electrical safety in data centers, large-scale facilities, and high-risk construction environments. This role blends the broad leadership responsibilities of a Regional Safety Manager with the technical expertise of an Electrical Safety SME, making it a cornerstone of HITT’s commitment to eliminating serious injuries and fatalities.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular on-site inspections and hazard identification walks, involving project team members to build awareness and strengthen accountability.

Document findings with detailed notes and photos; share corrective actions with project leadership.

Input safety observations into HITT’s Health & Safety Platform (HSP) daily and provide site teams with inspection summaries.

Attend all operations and leadership meetings (PM, Superintendent, Sr. Ops) to deliver safety moments, highlight electrical safety concerns, and align field priorities with leadership expectations.

Provide weekly regional safety summaries for review, highlighting trends, project updates, and action items.

Respond to questions and issues from project teams within 24 hours, escalating to safety leadership when needed.

Approach safety management with professionalism and respect—coaching teams to improve rather than policing.

Serve as HITT’s SME on electrical safety standards (NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA, and state/local codes).

Lead HITT’s Electrical Energization Program (EEP) including site preparation, energization planning, trade partner accountability, and team training.

Oversee the implementation of electrical controls such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash protection, energized work permitting, and commissioning protocols.

Provide expert guidance for low, medium, and high-voltage system activities, including data centers, mission-critical facilities, and large-scale construction projects.

Conduct in-depth electrical safety audits and inspections; identify systemic risks and corrective actions.

Lead or support electrical incident investigations with a focus on root cause analysis, corrective measures, and prevention strategies.

Act as HITT’s representative and technical authority for client engagements, regulatory inquiries, and industry forums.

Develop and deliver advanced electrical safety training, including NFPA 70E, OSHA 1926/1910, and LOTO practices.

Provide in-house SME-led training sessions for HITT employees, subcontractors, and trade partners.

Maintain accurate training records and certifications for electrical safety courses.

Mentor operations teams in electrical hazard recognition, inspections, and safe work practices.

Present electrical safety updates and technical insights during operations and leadership meetings.

Contribute to the development of company-wide safety policies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with other members of the Safety Leadership specialty team to address emerging risks and share lessons learned across business units.

Support corporate priorities such as Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) prevention, High-Risk Activity (HRA) oversight, and safety innovation initiatives.

Model HITT’s values of professionalism, respect, and trust, serving as a cultural ambassador for safety throughout the company.

Qualifications

Recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) in electrical safety with mastery of NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA 1926/1910, and related standards.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

Licensed Journeyman/Master Electrician with safety leadership experience.

10+ years of industrial/construction electrical safety management.

Demonstrated ability to lead high-risk electrical activities, commissioning, and energization.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and influence teams at all levels.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management platforms (HSP or equivalent).

Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Proven ability to build trust and cultivate a positive safety climate across diverse teams.

In accordance with California’s Labor Code Section 432.3, the base salary range for this position is:
