Safety Manager

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Safety Manager for the Emerson Engineered Wood Products manufacturing facility located in Emerson, Arkansas. Emerson is approximately 20 minutes from Magnolia, Arkansas and an hour from both Ruston, Louisiana and Shreveport, Louisiana.

The Safety Manager is a full time, exempt and reports to the Mill Manager. The role is a key member of the Mill Leadership Team and will provide safety-related guidance for the mill of 250 employees while driving safety goals.

Key Functions
The Safety Manager will provide leadership, coordination and technical expertise in all areas of safety, health and industrial hygiene to achieve operational excellence. The role will have accountability for establishing reliable methods for improving safety performance and for nourishing a culture in which safety is an overriding value in all activities and where every associate assumes accountability for safety initiatives and expectations. The role also ensures the mill is in compliance with OSHA regulatory expectations in addition to business and Company guidelines and initiatives.

Responsibilities

Provide full time health and safety support to the site and ensure that all practices are in compliance with corporate and regulatory agency requirementsBuild a positive working relationship with all site personnel as well as all regulatory agenciesSet safety objectives and targets to ensure goals are achievedProvide leadership, coordination and technical expertise in the areas of health and safety and support the site in training and development requirementsConduct incident investigations on all work-related safety incidents to determine root cause, prevent recurrences and establish employee accountabilityEnsure on-time completion of any and all corrective actions from site reported incidents, internal and external safety audit findings, and/or critical action items from other site investigation findings shared with the businessOversight of all Workman’s Compensation claims in partnership with Human ResourceMentor the “Safety Committee” and its functions into a workable and functioning part of the safety culture to add value. Encourage employee involvement in safety and promote a caring safety culture.Coordination of and lead for internal and external audits to support the Corporate Safety Audit program and participation in external audits at other Weyerhaeuser facilitiesLeadership to accurate and timely implementation of facility safety plans, procedures and reportingContinuous improvement of incident prevention programs and techniquesEnsuring the safe and efficient execution of workRole modeling safe work practices and facilitating team meetings trainings with assigned teamProvide safety related project management support using processes like MOC, Capital project gate processes and OSHA standardsEnsuring proper job and safety rules are understood and followedIdentifying safety, environmental, quality production issues and incident investigation and follow-up when safety or environmental incidents occurMeeting production standards and goalsDeveloping and training associates including coaching, mentoring and performance managementSupporting training and development plans to improve skills, knowledge and team performanceSupporting the improvement of key performance indicators and continuous improvement of operational functions and for department budget cost effectivenessLeading the team by proactively resolving employee issues, encouraging teamwork, and ensuring adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent mannerStaffing, recruiting and retaining talentRole model of all standards/processes and on-the-job behavior by living our core principles

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $86,700 to $130,200 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience.
