Safety Manager

This position is located at Weyerhaeuser's Lumber Mill in Grifton, NC. Greenville Mill is a random length sawmill producing lumber used in residential construction. If you enjoy proximity to college activities/sports, outdoor recreational activities, historic landmarks and southern hospitality the Greenville area offers excellent options in recreation and relaxation.

This position will have the accountability for:

Establishing reliable methods and systems for improving Safety performanceDeveloping and implementing the training certification systems for these methodsEducating the entire organization on safety related topics, continually advancing the safety knowledge and riskrecognition ability of all associates.Promoting and maintaining a culture in which safety is the overriding value in all activities and in which every teammember assumes accountability for safetyAssuring compliance with all safety regulatory requirementsProviding technical support for on-going problem solving and incident investigationsEnsuring systems are in place for an effective safety programMeeting regulatory/corporate guidelines, applicable recordkeeping, reporting, safety statistics and trend analysisServing as the primary contact for all inspections/inquiriesProviding leadership to the safety steering teamParticipating as a member of the Region Safety team, participating in team meetings, problem solving, and other site inspections across the region

Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Sciences, or related field.3-5 years of related experience in an industrial/manufacturing environmentStrong, engaging, people-centered leadership style.Passion for Safety and Health.Demonstrated strong commitment to safety and corporate citizenship.Strong interpersonal skills.Effective trainerStrong technical expertise in manufacturing safety processes and regulatory requirements include machine guarding,fall protection, LOTO, electrical safety, confined space, hot work, hazard communication, hearing conservation, andmobile equipment.Desire and willingness to work on the floor with teams to understand issues and help develop solutions. This will involveclimbing ladders, wearing fall protection, performing LOTO, wearing various PPE, and working in and around equipmentin a variety of weather conditions.Strong problem-solving skills.Ability to plan, prioritize and work under pressure and meet deadlines.Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of health safety programs.

What We Offer:

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $88,910-$133,506 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours and paid parental leave for all full-time employees.
