Job Summary

Bird Electric, a Black & Veatch company, is a U.S. self-perform electrical construction services provider with a national reach in emergency power restoration. Bird Electric delivers grid solutions and operates in adjacent distributed infrastructure markets including renewables, electric vehicle (EV) charging, and connectivity. This is a high-level position, which is accountable for implementing and maintaining the company's Safety Procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Manages construction safety administration in an Electrical and Oil & Gas environment. Implements, administers and maintains safety programs. Develops and conducts employee safety and health training programs. Conducts site safety and health inspections. Ensures project safety and health documentation is complete and accurate. Conducts incident and injury/illness investigations. Writes detailed investigation and safety reports. May Interface with clients and government officials.  Administers various safety programs and procedures. Assists in development, management and implementation of project programs and policies. Manages project security contracts, programs and policies. May develops, manage and implements project environmental programs and policies. Provides supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports. Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.

Electrical (T&D, Overhead Power Lines) construction Safety experience

Oil & Gas environment Safety experience

Required Safety Credentials & Certifications

Bachelor's Degree preferred 

 5+ Safety Manager experience 

Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 5 years Safety experience in the O&G / Electrical Industry Good communication and presentation skills Good Computer Skills Required Certifications: Authorized OSHA Outreach Instructor Authorized NFPA Instructor Authorized H2S/Safe Land Instructor Authorized First Aid/CPR/BBP/AED Instructor Authorized Qualified Electrical Worker Instructor Safety Credentials: CUSP and/or CHST OHST SMS CIT

5+ years in an Electrical / Oil & Gas construction environment. Must have overhead transmission line, substation, and high voltage experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Physical Demands:
