Our aseptic processing and packaging makes our solutions more convenient, efficient and environmentally friendly. We are seeking an energetic, skilled Safety Manager ​for our facility in Penn Yan, NY.   Responsibilities

Summary:

Manages and or coordinates/documents all activities related to the Facilities Safety programs, ensuring that Facilities and Company objectives for safety, quality and productivity are met or exceeded.

 

Responsibilities:

Respond to the plant in the event of injury. Identify and interpret regulatory standards that impact operational exposures and business activities and guide needed plans to ensure complianceDevelop, implement and monitor comprehensive safety processes, training programs and management practices to eliminate all accidents in the workplace and meet all applicable safety rules and company policy. Responsibilities to include:  OSHA, ergonomics, machine guarding, hazard communication, powered industrial vehicles, electrical safety, fire protection & emergency preparedness.Identifies and evaluates hazardous conditions and practices, developing practices and programs to correct or reduce their occurrenceProvides assistance to plant personnel to improve safety and health of all employees.Plans, implements and monitors the day-to-day operations for the Facility’s Safety training schedule, including analyzing operating data and reports, monitoring adherence to standards to ensure business plan objectives are met or exceeded.Communicates with Management and employees and provides relevant reports and analyses on to ensure appropriate decision-making as it applies to safety and training.Ensures preparation and delivery of all relevant training/training materials are complaint with all customer, governmental and company directives and policies.Creates Job Specific Training ModulesInvestigates and reports on all injuries.Reviews and analyzes company accidents and historical claim experience to identify frequency or severity problems and loss trends. Conduct improvement projects based on findings to improve overall employee health and safety.Investigates and responds to employee safety concerns and workers compensation claims to provide high quality internal customer servicePeriodically audits operational procedures and programs related to all aspects of the facility as training is developed and updated.Train and coach managers and supervisors on behavior based strategies, accident investigations, hazard identification, self-inspection and employee training.Manages assigned trainees, including training, development and validation of performance.Attends and coordinates safety meetingsEstablish a measuring device for safety performance throughout the facility by motivating individual accountability and reinforcing safety as a critical part of the corporate culture.Gatekeeper to all training documentationInterface with insurer representatives on all post-loss (claim) communication required with adjustor, HR and injured worker. Work with HR for prompt return-to-work of any injured associate.Manages the New Employee Orientation Process (Safety) and participates in OrientationCoordinates all facility inspections for safety equipmentPerforms other related and assigned duties as necessary

Required Qualifications and Knowledge:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree occupational heath and safety, or related field like engineering, chemistry or biology, combined with relevant work experience in safety roles.Minimum of 3-year Experience in Health and Safety FieldHigh Degree of ProfessionalismAbility to deal with sensitive and confidential informationStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to organize and multi-taskStrong Work Ethic and team player

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Initial-OSHA 30 hour General IndustryInitial/Ongoing-KanPak Hazcom trainingInitial/Ongoing-KanPak Emergency Action Plan trainingInitial/Ongoing-American Heart Association First Aid/CPRPlanned-KanPak Hazardous Waste Mgmt training program

 

Travel Requirements:    Occasional domestic travel may be required.
