The Office of Human Resources at The Department of Labor & Industry fosters a diverse and inclusive work environment that promotes collaboration, flexibility and fairness so that all individuals can participate and contribute to their full potential. We are currently looking for a Safety & Security Coordinator/Safety Officer Safety Coordinator to be the newest member of our HR team. As our new member you would manage the department ' s Safety and Health Program to reduce injuries and occupational illnesses to employees. Additional duties include: * Conducts effective safety training, threat assessment, and ensures compliance with all federal and state safety laws and regulations. * Coordinates and manages the risk management and Early Return to Work programs, workers compensation and the safety and wellness committees. * Develops up to date assessment methods and performs diverse safety and security inspections/assessments statewide. * Creates, maintains and analyzes safety, injury, security and continuity policies and data. * Reviews all workers compensation and tort claims for accuracy. * Conducts accident investigations and reviews accident investigations for accuracy. * Completes computer workstation ergonomic assessments. * Develops and maintains an agency wide business continuity of government and operations plan. * Serves as a facility maintenance liaison with the General Services Division. * Develop safety-related courses for in-person and on-line training in a Learning Management System and/or to train in person. This position reports to the Human Resource Director. ** *KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES:* If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have the following knowledge, skills or abilities: Knowledge of: * Risk management and loss control as it relates to a comprehensive employee safety program. * Safety laws and regulations and the application of those laws to a large variety of occupations within the Department. * FMLA, ADA. job safety analysis. Early Return to Work programs and OSHA. * Must be able to apply knowledge, experience and training to solve specific security or disaster problems. * Principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Skills in: * Providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders * Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Ability to: * Make ethical decisions. build trust with customers and maintain confidentiality. * Communicate effectively orally and in writing. * Design and deliver quality safety training, with is relevant and meaningful to employees in a variety of occupations. * Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* * Bachelor’s degree in business or a safety related field. * Three years of progressively responsible experience performing similar duties as required in this position. Or * Five years directly related experience.
