Job Summary: The Safety Professional is responsible for overseeing and implementing safety protocols within data centers and facilities engineering operations and maintenance environments. This role ensures compliance with all relevant safety regulations, promotes a culture of safety, and works to prevent workplace accidents and injuries. The Safety Professional collaborates with engineering, maintenance, and management teams to identify hazards, conduct safety training, and lead safety audits and inspections.

The Safety Professional is responsible for oversight of Project Safety, Health (S&H), and Risk Management, effectively managing multiple Safety programs, developing and implementing M.C. Dean site-specific project safety plans, and collaborating with Project Management in the implementation and leadership of the Operational Risk Management (ORM) process. Provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough and practical. 

Key Responsibilities:

Participate in meetings with customers, project team members, and contractors/sub-contractors to advise of project-specific mitigation plans, S&H training programs, and technical reports Assist with the development and implementation of Site Specific Accident Prevention Programs (APP) and training plans to meet project safety plan specs and requirements Assist with site safety budgets, necessary safe work permits and assure compliance with project contract, plans, and specifications Lead the Operational Risk Management (ORM) team in reviewing, interpreting, and developing a project safety plan based on project, client/owner, Program Manager, and General Contractor (GC) specifications, design drawings, regulations, and existing safety system - Conduct / assist with incident / investigation reporting. Knowledge of safety and health standards, rules, regulations - Working knowledge of safe work practices, accident investigation techniques, Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance, insurance audits, workers compensation, project health surveys, Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA), site emergency evacuation and first aid plans Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office suite, including Share Point Safety Program Development: Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to the unique needs of data centers and facilities operations. Ensure these programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as industry standards. Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification: Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses in data center and facilities environments. Identify potential safety hazards, recommend corrective actions, and track their implementation to mitigate risks. Training & Education: Design and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors, covering topics such as emergency response, electrical safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, confined space entry, and hazardous materials handling. Ensure all personnel are trained in and adhere to safety protocols. Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses. Analyze root causes, develop corrective action plans, and monitor the implementation of these actions to prevent recurrence. Safety Audits & Inspections: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of data centers and facilities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Document findings, prepare reports, and follow up on corrective actions. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for data center and facilities operations, including evacuation procedures, fire safety plans, and coordination with local emergency services. Conduct regular drills and exercises to ensure preparedness. Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other relevant regulations affecting data centers and facilities engineering operations. Ensure the organization’s compliance with all applicable safety laws and standards. Safety Culture Promotion: Promote a proactive safety culture within the organization by encouraging reporting of hazards, participating in safety committees, and recognizing safe work practices. Act as a safety advocate and resource for employees and management. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate safety records, including training logs, incident reports, audit findings, and corrective actions. Prepare and present regular safety performance reports to management. Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to integrate safety into daily work practices. Provide guidance on safety considerations for maintenance activities, project planning, and operational procedures. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety practices. Recommend and implement changes to enhance safety performance and reduce risks.

Position / Candidate Requirements:

6+ years with a high school diploma 4+ years with an Associates Degree 0+ years with a Bachelors Degree Experience conducting S&H training, Regulatory compliance expert/1910, 1926, EM-385 1-1 Safety Management Systems knowledge, skill and experience ANSI-Z10, OHSAS 18001, ISO 3100 Understanding of culture and culture building skills Trainer Designation - OSHA 500/502 - Safety and Health / Occupational Safety degree from an ABET accredited program Willingness to pursue Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Previous electrical / construction / industrial /federal and commercial S&H experience Top Secret Clearance Required
