Safety Representative

The Safety Representative plays a critical role in ensuring a strong safety culture and regulatory compliance within MISTRAS operations. This position is responsible for developing and coordinating training programs for offshore technicians, managing certifications, and ensuring adherence to company, customer, and regulatory requirements. The role involves conducting safety audits, leading incident investigations, and collaborating with business units to promote safe work practices.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

Develop, schedule, and coordinate training sessions for offshore technicians, including safety, regulatory, technical, and operational training. Track and manage training certifications to ensure compliance with regulatory, MISTRAS and customer requirements Communicate training requirements and deadlines to PMs, offshore supervisors and employees. Utilize ISNetworld for training management and compliance verification Coordinate with Louisiana Workforce Commission to manage training grant and implement a state-sponsored apprenticeship program Perform periodic safety and compliance audits for jobsite locations. Lead investigations (RCA or similar), produce reports, and track corrective actions. Ensure compliance with MISTRAS’s safety programs, policies, and procedures. Work closely with business units to ensure work activities are performed in a safe manner in compliance with applicable company/client policies and regulatory considerations. Promote the effective supervision, management, motivation and training of local MISTRAS team members in areas of personal safety, health, and regulatory compliance. And other activities as directed by Local management. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess the personality, enthusiasm, and commitment to Mistras core values and promotion of Mistras’ safety culture. Proficient in the Training Manager aspect of ISNetworld. Proficient in Microsoft suite of programs. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Self-starter who can effectively prioritize, multi-task and manage to accomplish objectives within prescribed deadlines. Outstanding communication skills including written, oral, interpersonal and presentation. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret regulations. Ability to be "on call" 24/7 for emergencies. Must possess a valid drivers’ license to operate a motor vehicle and authorize Mistras to validate by means of an MVR search. Ability to wear various forms of personal protective equipment during the performance of their duties. Able to perform work during prolonged standing up to 8 hours or more; frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and repetitive motion also required. Preferred: Associates Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent training or experience. At a minimum: Experience as a practicing health and safety professional in the refining, petrochemical, or related industries. 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:

Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.
