Position Overview
The Site-Specific Safety Representative will be on a jobsite in and around Boston, MA and is responsible for assisting the Project team in the planning, directing and implementing organizational safety programs to ensure a safe and incident-free work environment. This role also has responsibility for monitoring job site adherence to safety policies and OSHA regulations, developing and implementing safety training, claim handling procedures, partnering with local Occupational Medical facilities, communicating with project teams on any safety concerns, tracking safety incidents and communicating lessons learned, and partnering with the GC’s Safety team to incorporate any best practices at the project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in the development of and clearly articulate Company’s safety vision, objectives, strategies, policies, and procedures. Ensure jobsite visits are happening weekly to evaluate safe work practices, working conditions, identify potential hazards and proactively correct any safety deficiencies. Assist with Gaston’s safety training program by identifying needs and creating trainings to address gaps. Perform safety audits and ensure we’re able to produce the associated documentation required of each job or project. Support Foremen in the field with any safety concerns or needs and help resolve any issues. Ensure JHAs are established prior to any high-risk task or any electrical shutdowns. Attend Pre-job Safety Meetings for awarded projects. Verify all Gaston sub-contractor activities adhere to the Company safety program. Manage the inventory and condition of all PPE and safety equipment supplied/owned by Gaston Electrical, Inc. Be thoroughly educated in the most current construction industry safety standards and regulations. Attend all meetings required in the event of a jobsite accident. Accompany any workers receiving medical treatment for a work-related accident, as best as possible. Provide relevant material for jobsite safety meetings (weekly toolbox talks) and audit meeting records for participation. Assist with safety record keeping and reporting procedures. Be capable and ready to lead safety orientation for all new hires. Manage safety-specific software and ensure we’re maximizing it to its full potential. Contribute to company newsletters on safety initiatives and progress. Assist in project related tasks as necessary including but not limited too: Inventory control Payroll assistance As-builts Change Order Management RFI assistance

Position Requirements/Preferred Skills, Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety, safety management, construction or related field and a CSP or CHST designation; or has a minimum of (3) years of prior work history as a Safety Representative with specific construction safety responsibilities and possesses the STSC designation. Current CPR/First aid/AED certification. Current OHSA 30 Card. In depth technical knowledge of construction related OSHA, federal, state, and local regulatory standards, and ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement effective corrective practices Must be an effective communicator, generating professional written material and delivering effective verbal presentations and/or trainings Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in creating positive working relationships to advance the success of safety initiatives Self-motivated with the desire to be a leader for the company; leverage external relationships and learning to continue to push safety
Software Skills
Knowledge and experience working with safety software is preferred Robust knowledge working with the Microsoft Suite
Language Skills
Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customer, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
