Safety Specialist
**Amentum** is seeking a **Safety Specialist** to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Safety Specialist will be responsible for the administration of safety field operations and programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment for the assigned area of operations – ADO/SDO. Ensures Company remains compliant with policy, programs, and training that guides work site safety and workers performance of various job elements. Ensures contract performance conforms to established standards and governmental agency guidelines, guaranteeing lasting customer satisfaction. **Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.** **Essential Responsibilities:** + Administer the contractual occupational safety program and coordinate compliance at all areas across the ADO/SDO site. + Advise various departments, management staff and safety personnel on the impact of policies and regulations on the Company Operations. + Provide assistance with customer and external agency interactions and compliance activities during and after audits of Safety programs. + Conducts internal inspections/audits of safety program(s) compliance throughout each department and subcontractors. + Investigates work site accidents and injuries. + Assist with the implementation and application of the Workmen’s Compensation Program. + Compiles and analyzes site data to implement procedures to improve processes and reduce worksite injuries. + Provides inputs to government customer concerns and findings. + Tracks corrective actions taken in response to internal and customer audit findings. + Assist with coordinating and delivery training programs in employee safety procedures. + Researches and recommends safety training materials and monitors the effectiveness of related training programs. + Compiles and submits required OSHA reports and annual safety plans as required by regulation. + Analyze collected data and the implementation of programs to reduce or abate worksite hazards. + Maintains an up-to-date technical library for areas covered. + Serve as an active participant in Root Cause Analysis investigations and Process Hazard Assessments. + Provides guidance and direction to achieve compliance with all applicable safety and quality standards + Tracks Safety Program metrics throughout depot worksite. + Maintains awareness of regulatory changes within worksite safety and disseminates information to the work site personnel. + Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested. + Develops and coordinates training programs in employee safety procedures. **Basic Qualifications:** + Must be 18 years or older. + High School Diploma or equivalent required. + Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license. **Minimum Qualifications:** + Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) site access. + Good writing and verbal communication skills. + Must be able to operate a computerized based terminal. + Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment for efficient medical clinic functions. + Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement. + Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner. + Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by the Master Training Plan. **Desired Qualifications:** + Associate or bachelor’s degree in an Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field. + Five (5) years’ experience in an industrial worksite. Ten (10) years preferred. + Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) highly desired. Occupational Health & Safety Technologist (OHST) or Safety Management Specialist (SMS) certifications may be considered as preferred alternatives. + Experience as incident investigator using various techniques to determine root causes. + Excellent oral and written communications skills. + Must be knowledgeable of computers and software. + Must be fluent in speaking and writing, using English language. **Safety Sensitive** + This position is designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan/Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program. + Position will be subject to initial and random drug testing program, medical exams and screenings for respiratory apparatus fit/wear as established by 29 CFR and Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13, and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26. **Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:** Combination of a typical office environment and field work in an industrial setting. May be required to travel domestically. Occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. **Other Responsibilities:** Safety - Amentum enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
