UES is looking to add a Safety Specialist to its Houston location. This position monitors workplace activities to promote and ensure employee compliance with applicable safety regulations. This position requires a bachelor's degree in safety or a related field, or a combination of certifications and experience. This position requires a person who can keep a clear head in crisis situations and can help foresee potential safety hazards and apprise fellow employees and management of how to avoid them. A proven safety leader with a positive attitude and a mind for safety is a must!ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIdentifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements.Drafts and implements internal safety standards and policies.Reviews accidents and incidents reported by employees and visitors to the facility.Performs other related duties as assigned.Perform incident investigation to determine root cause and generate corrective actions.EDUCATION and/or QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Occupational Safety and Health (preferred).5+ years of experience in safety is required.Proficient in MS Office and ability to learn internal databases.A valid Texas driver license and acceptable driving recordCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSCSP Certified Safety Professional (highly preferred). OSHA 30-Hour Construction required.OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER with 8-Hour refresher preferred.UES is the #1 fastest-growing AEC firm on The Zweig Group’s Hot Firm list in 2021, 2022 & 2023.
