Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Specialist to join our team for a 5-6 month project.The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety of a substation construction project.This position requires a strong background in construction safety and excellent communication and presentation skills.
ResponsibilitiesServe as the onsite safety representative for a substation project in Watertown near Fort Drum.Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards.Conduct safety inspections and audits on the construction site.Develop and implement safety plans and procedures.Provide safety training and presentations to workers and clients.Investigate and report on incidents and near-misses.Collaborate with field, office, and client personnel to promote a culture of safety.Essential SkillsHigh School Diploma or GED.4+ years of experience as a safety professional in a construction environment.Strong communication and presentation skills.Experience in civil, electrical, or utility construction safety.Knowledge of OSHA 30 and OSHA 40 regulations.Additional Skills & QualificationsAdvanced education in Occupational Health and Safety.Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) certification.Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.OSHA 500 certification.Experience with utility, electrical, and/or civil construction.Work EnvironmentThe position is 100% onsite at a National Grid site in Watertown near Fort Drum.The project involves building a brand-new substation, primarily focused on civil work.The successful candidate will work in a construction environment, requiring adherence to safety protocols and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00
