Safety Specialist
This is a hybrid position that will require an average of 3 days onsite each week and supports CHS (Lakeland, Niles, Watervliet) and CHW (Zeeland and Pennock) Job Summary Responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of Safety, Reliability and Regulatory standards to facilitate a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Collaborates with leadership to identify and prioritize key patient safety and quality improvement projects. Will conduct patient/employee safety investigations utilizing appropriate risk management/quality tools. Essential Functions + Patient Safety point person for the spaces CH South (Lakeland Hospital - St. Joseph Medical Center, Niles Hospital and Watervliet) and CH West (Zeeland and Pennock) + Develop and implement patient safety programs in partnership with QSE and local teams + Conduct regular safety rounds + Monitors reported patient safety events and analyzes patient safety event trends + Analyzes near misses and precursor safety events + Facilitates system mapping and proactive patient safety risk assessments + Support quality improvement projects + Actively engage in safety work groups such as falls, HAPI, medication, IP + Supports spread and sustainability of system improvements + Provide training and mentoring on patient safety + Engage patients and families in safety initiatives + Respond to safety-related inquiries and concerns.
