Job DescriptionSETS II is seeking a Safety Specialist to work on the ongoing Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security (CISA) Headquarters building in SE Washington, DC. This work takes place on an active construction site. The candidate will maintain a safe working environment by conducting regular inspections, identifying potential hazards, providing employee safety training, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with all applicable safety regulations, with the primary goal of minimizing workplace accidents and injuries.
Primary Duties include the following for construction site personnel from the SETS II contract:
Conducting daily safety inspections of work areas and equipment and will report metrics as required.Conducting regular safety meetings and awareness campaigns to promote a safety culture.Providing training and education of staff in safety work practicesLeading and providing assistance to PMs on the development of Activity Hazard Analysis formsInvestigating all job site accidents and near misses to determine root causes. Recording and reporting findingsPreparing detailed incident reports and identifying corrective actions to prevent recurrenceImplementing corrective actions and monitoring their effectiveness.Staying updated on all applicable safety regulations (OSHA, local, industry-specific) and ensure complianceMonitoring adherence to both SETS II and the General Contractor’s safety policies and proceduresMaintaining accurate safety records and documentationEffective written and verbal communication skillsExamining the construction job site to identity potential hazards or hazardous situationsIdentifying defective tools and equipmentTraining workers on the safe of use of construction tools and equipmentSubmitting all required safety documentation, monthly metrics and employee safety related recordsQualifications/Education:
5+ years of Construction Safety experienceBachelor’s Degree Occupational Health or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.Strong verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated experience as a leader, specifically for teams of installers on construction sitesAbility to coordinate with multiple disciplines and multiple company’s safety personnelVery strong attention to detailVery strong problem-solving skillsOSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications requiredCPR and AED training a plusKnowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practicesExperience with writing policies and procedures for health and safetyMust be able to obtain and maintain a DHS Entry-on-Duty (EOD) Suitability determinationGeneral work hours – Monday -Friday 6am-2pmMust be able to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD (Entry on Duty)
