POSITION PURPOSE
The Safety Specialist works with ministry leaders, colleagues and medical staff to improve safety and reliability frameworks, processes and behaviors throughout the organization. Uses data and safety science to embed and complete system wide, unit specific and service line improvements to improve high reliability in patient care and with colleagues. Provides expertise, guidance and leadership as it relates to reliability standards, improvement process and safety specific programs, including education, coaching, and support for clinical and non-clinical areas.
Will be supporting Trinity Health Ann Arbor, Livingston and Chelsea hospital
NOTE: This is a full-time, on-site position. Selected candidate will be required to utilize office space at any of the three hospitals based on current project.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Work Focus: Researches, analyzes, and identifies opportunities for improvement in program efficiency and patient experience. Distributes analytical reports and leads resolutions.
Process Focus: Uses system applications to create reports, develop materials, and apply knowledge of policies to ensure quality and confidentiality.
Data Management & Analysis: Compiles and analyzes data for operational projects, providing detailed reports and recommendations to support leadership decisions and measure ROI.
Functional Roles: Partners with departments like Quality and Risk Management to improve outcomes, offering consultation on safety and reliability at all leadership levels.
Facilitation & Safety: Leads safety rounds, trainings, and meetings with executives and frontline staff. Oversees safety improvements and culture change initiatives to prevent harm and improve experiences.
Tools & Systems: Familiar with electronic medical records, Microsoft applications, Tableau, QuickBase, and other data systems.
MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, nursing, engineering, or related field.
Two (2) or more years of experience in high reliability, safety, performance improvement, quality, risk management; or related experience.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certification as Patient Safety Professional, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, or other related certification
Leadership experience.
