Safety Supervisor
This position is for a road warrior! The Safety Supervisor is “boots on the ground” and requires the position to be onsite at projects throughout the nation. The primary role of the Safety Supervisor is to be responsible for all Safety functions on the assigned project. This will include e but is not limited to Site Safety Plan, Safety Inspections, overseeing that Environmental Inspections (SWP3) are conducted by onsite personnel, Safety Orientations, and o bservations of work procedures. Work closely with the Project Superintendent to ensure a safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment as well as educate company employees of local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations as well as maintain compliance with AUI safety program standards. 1) Team Management: + Demonstrate leadership by providing valuable input into the development and enhancement of safety programs and policies. + Effectively manage a team of safety technicians, offering guidance, direction, and continuous support. + Delegate tasks and responsibilities to safety technicians, ensuring a collaborative and efficient working environment. + Conduct regular meetings with the safety team to foster open communication, share best practices, and address challenges. + Prioritize training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of the safety team, promoting professional growth. 2) Inspections: + Report Safety Inspection findings to the Project Manager and Superintendent and ensure recommended changes have been implemented. + Hand off Safety/Environmental inspection documentation as follows: + Incident Reports – within one workday. + Routine Safety / Environmental Inspections – Weekly + All other Non-Routine Reports – As soon as possible + Assist HR, Legal and Compliance on Worker Compensation claims and other claims involving the public, vehicles, utilities, and equipment. + Transport and distribute essential Personal Protective Equipment to project locations as requested, ensuring the selection of optimal pricing and high-quality products. + Attend and participate in routine Pre-construction, Project and Subcontractor Prequalification Meetings. + Develop Site-Specific Safety Plan for each project. + Develop a Site Specific SWP3 or each project. + Ensure that Safety Expectations on assigned projects are met. + Ensure that required information is posted and in proper locations such as; signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards + Conduct safety inspections of corporate headquarters and job-sites to detect existing or 3) Incident Investigations: + Conduct Utility Claim Investigations within 24 hours and provide report for safety files and records. + Investigate any reports of incidents and injuries and gather material and evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits, workers’ compensation claims, and insurance investigations. + Ensure Incident Reporting is completed and closed out properly. + Provide support and help conduct investigations for any incidents. + Participate in follow-up and investigative meetings as well as Root Cause Analysis process and meetings. + Assist in transporting employees with a work-related injury or illness to a workers’ + If an incident has occurred involving an injury or damage to property, immediately administer a drug/alcohol screening. 4) Safety Training: + Assist and conduct Educational/Training sessions for personnel in the following areas, such as: + New Hire Orientation + General work site safety practices which include: Fire prevention; Correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials + Excavation and Trench Safety + Fall Protection + Scaffolding + Electrical + Confined Space Entry + First Aid and CPR + Mechanized Equipment & Rollover protective structures for material handling + equipment + OSHA 10 - 30 Hour training + Hazard Communication Trainer + Conduct any additional Safety Training and Safety Education as it becomes necessary. + Perform Site Specific Safety Orientation as required. 5) Environmental + Inspect and assist with updates for the SWP3 Plan for the assigned project. + Report status weekly of the pollution prevention controls in place on assigned projects to the Project Manager and Superintendent + During the Project, conduct overview of routine SWP3 inspections on compliance signage and report findings to the Superintendent and Safety Manager at end of each inspection. + Represent the company regarding EPA, TCEQ, and City and local entities. 6) Relationships: + Ensure proper and respectful communication between ALL project stakeholders regarding: safety, schedule, quality control, construction methods, company policies and procedures, permits and other performance standards + Always represent AUI with the highest standard of professionalism – Leads by example. + Maintain positive, productive relationships with ALL stakeholders, including AUI employees, Subcontractors, Vendors, Owners, Architects, Engineers and regulatory entities. Requirements + OSHA 510 Preferred + First Aid/CPR Certified + CHST certification or equivalent + 3+ years of experience required + Able to build trust and provide education and guidance on safety-related topics + Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, one on one as well as in a group setting + Experience in renewable energy construction preferred + Able to work weekends/holidays/nights – Must be flexible + Attention to detail/Able to perform risk assessment and analysis + Travel is required if located away from the project site + Intermediate Computer Skills (Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook, Printer/Scanner etc.) + Familiarity with Procore is preferred + Able to stand/walk frequently (May have to climb ladders, and stairs while onsite) + Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions Our Company is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and will consider all applications for all positions equally without regard to their race, sex, age, color, religion, national origin, veteran status, genetic information, or any disability as defined in the Americans With Disabilities Act, or for any other reason protected by State and/or Federal law.
