Safety Supervisor

Location: La Mirada, CA

Job Schedule: Core hours are 6am-3pm Monday through Friday with the expectation to be available if and when safety concerns come up. 

Compensation: $56,314 - $90,127 is the full starting salary range (Pay Bi-Weekly) *A final amount is dependent on factors including prior relevant experience, knowledge, and location. Typically, selected candidates are hired at a rate between the minimum and midpoint of the range

Job Summary: Ensuring the safety and compliance of an organization with applicable laws, regulations and industry standards. Safety and compliance professionals play a crucial role in identifying and mitigating risks, developing and implementing safety programs and ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. They conduct risk assessments, identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks. They also provide training to employees on safety protocols, investigate accidents or incidents and ensure compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

50-75% travel locally  Conduct classroom environment new hire driver orientation; company policy/procedures, DOT regulations, safety modules, HOS, Maven, SMITH system, Guardian program, pre/mid/post trip and customer service expectations Review orientation PowerPoint presentation, prepare and obtain materials for driver qualification files Utilize Samba/Vigilo software to review all DOT inspections, motor vehicle citations and accident trends as received by Dedicated drivers or equipment to identify trends and recommend prevention/corrective action measures Use the information provided by Samba/Vigilo to coach and correct driver behavior Weekly communication with operations  to ensure weekly tailgate meetings and on-site training is being conducted Retain training documents and supply to the compliance department promptly for accurate record keeping Populate and distribute weekly supervisor scorecards to ensure compliance Equipment inspection; check 90-day BIT on tractor/trailers Cleanliness, inspect lights, tires and hoses on all equipment Walk the yard with the supervisor; any issue with equipment needs to be “red tagged” and VRT or the local shop needs to be notified Ensure site supervisors/drivers are complying with site-specific/OSHA requirements when performing a site evaluation Regularly conduct driver evaluations, ride along and completion of employee evaluation forms Log and track new driver training, utilizing the Driver Training Safety Program Continue to train and coach driver trainers; ensure trainer is providing the necessary training to trainee Driving of tractor, safety standards, use of equipment and Maven/Elogs Completion of training documentation is required before tractor being released to the trainee

Requirements:  

Previous Transportation History  Knowledge of DOT Regulations
