Position Summary: 

\r\n

The Safety Trainer is responsible for training during new hire orientation, on the job training, monthly safety meetings, and other specialized training sessions to include, but not limited to LOTO, Powered Industrial Truck and Fall Protection

\r\n

Essential Duties, Functions and responsibilities:

\r\n

Provides individual job specific training, and on the job training for new hires in order to complete the ramp in period.

\r\n

Follows direction of Safety Manager and Production Supervisor to guide new hire associates of daily production duties.

\r\n

Observes equipment operation, notifying appropriate personnel of any malfunctions and/or safety issues/concerns.

\r\n

Ensures all new hires understand required work safety instructions before assignment to the job.

\r\n

Ensures new hires follow all ergonomic program requirements including ramp in, rotation, early intervention, comfort surveys and proper job methods.  

\r\n

Assists in monitoring new hire progress through training period and ensures paperwork is completed and filed.

\r\n

Assist with new hire ergonomic evaluations and works closely with HR, supervisors and nurse to ensure issues are addressed properly and timely.

\r\n

Assists with hazard assessments to include: Ergonomic Worksite Analysis, Job Safety Analysis, PPE Hazard Assessments,

\r\n

LOTO Procedures, Accident/Incident investigations and Safety Inspections.

\r\n

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

\r\n

Follows all safety, USDA, and GMP policies and guidelines.

\r\n

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

\r\n

Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

\r\n

Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions & policies.

\r\n

Must be able to work in a team atmosphere and possess good leadership skills.

\r\n

Must have working knowledge of all positions on the line.

\r\n

Must be willing and able to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

\r\n

Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.

\r\n

Must pass a background check, drug screen and pre-employment physical.

\r\n

Some positions may require the ability to read, write, and/or speak English.  Bilingual in English/Spanish helpful.

\r\n

Physical Requirements:

\r\n

Standing (8 hours a day or more).

\r\n

Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 50lbs or more).

\r\n

Reaching overhead (up to and including 25lbs).

\r\n

Operating hand held and/or mechanical machinery.

\r\n

Walking/climbing stairs.  Gripping, grasping, and twisting using hands and wrists.

\r\n

Bending and stooping for long periods of time.

\r\n

Working with scissors or knives.

\r\n

Working Conditions/Department Description:

\r\n

Department works until processing is complete.  Overtime and weekend work may be required.

\r\n

Pay is base pay plus a premium of $0.75 per hour. 

\r\n

There is mandatory seasonal work for approximately 5 to 6 weeks during the months of October and November, which includes working 7 days per week.

\r\n

Job duties may vary from day to day depending on department’s needs

\r\n

May work in damp, cold, hot, and warm environments.

\r\n

Works with loud and noisy machinery, with and/or around chemicals/fumes/pungent odors

\r\n
