Position Summary:
\r\nThe Safety Trainer is responsible for training during new hire orientation, on the job training, monthly safety meetings, and other specialized training sessions to include, but not limited to LOTO, Powered Industrial Truck and Fall Protection
\r\nEssential Duties, Functions and responsibilities:
\r\nProvides individual job specific training, and on the job training for new hires in order to complete the ramp in period.
\r\nFollows direction of Safety Manager and Production Supervisor to guide new hire associates of daily production duties.
\r\nObserves equipment operation, notifying appropriate personnel of any malfunctions and/or safety issues/concerns.
\r\nEnsures all new hires understand required work safety instructions before assignment to the job.
\r\nEnsures new hires follow all ergonomic program requirements including ramp in, rotation, early intervention, comfort surveys and proper job methods.
\r\nAssists in monitoring new hire progress through training period and ensures paperwork is completed and filed.
\r\nAssist with new hire ergonomic evaluations and works closely with HR, supervisors and nurse to ensure issues are addressed properly and timely.
\r\nAssists with hazard assessments to include: Ergonomic Worksite Analysis, Job Safety Analysis, PPE Hazard Assessments,
\r\nLOTO Procedures, Accident/Incident investigations and Safety Inspections.
\r\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
\r\nFollows all safety, USDA, and GMP policies and guidelines.
\r\nMaintain a clean and organized work area.
\r\nAbility to work in a fast paced environment.
\r\nAbility to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions & policies.
\r\nMust be able to work in a team atmosphere and possess good leadership skills.
\r\nMust have working knowledge of all positions on the line.
\r\nMust be willing and able to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
\r\nMust be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
\r\nMust pass a background check, drug screen and pre-employment physical.
\r\nSome positions may require the ability to read, write, and/or speak English. Bilingual in English/Spanish helpful.
\r\nPhysical Requirements:
\r\nStanding (8 hours a day or more).
\r\nLifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 50lbs or more).
\r\nReaching overhead (up to and including 25lbs).
\r\nOperating hand held and/or mechanical machinery.
\r\nWalking/climbing stairs. Gripping, grasping, and twisting using hands and wrists.
\r\nBending and stooping for long periods of time.
\r\nWorking with scissors or knives.
\r\nWorking Conditions/Department Description:
\r\nDepartment works until processing is complete. Overtime and weekend work may be required.
\r\nPay is base pay plus a premium of $0.75 per hour.
\r\nThere is mandatory seasonal work for approximately 5 to 6 weeks during the months of October and November, which includes working 7 days per week.
\r\nJob duties may vary from day to day depending on department’s needs
\r\nMay work in damp, cold, hot, and warm environments.
\r\nWorks with loud and noisy machinery, with and/or around chemicals/fumes/pungent odors
