Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a Safety & Training Specialist who will be responsible for enforcing our safety polic ies and federal , state and local standards that govern our business operations . The Safety & Training Specialist is also responsible for conducting training, audits, and incident investigations. Responsibilities: + Provide technical expertise in area of safety as well as industry standards and accepted practices + A ssist in the d evelop ment of project and site specific safety plans + Conduct site/project and office inspections, identifying hazardous conditions and overseeing their correction + Recommend and implement approved health and safety policies to prevent incidents and accidents + Develop, deliver or coordinate safety related training for all personnel, including new hire safety orientation and corrective action training for individuals involved in incidences + Manage safety training records, identify and purchased PPE and manage and track all associated resources + Oversee all accident investigations, develop findings and deliver recommendations of corrective action + Monitor and communicate developments in federal, state and industry rules and regulations Qualifications: + Associate 's or Bachelor's degree, preferably in a Safety & Health related discipline , or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals or Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) by the Institute for Safety and Health Management. + 3-5 years of experience in the construction safety field, preferably in on roadway, bridge or heavy civil construction projects + Extensive knowledge of government, industry and other regulations + Excellent oral and written communication skills + Ability to make independent judgments to manage and facilitate company programs/policies as they relate to the safety of our work + Ability to travel as needed + 30 Hour OSHA Construction Safety Course Completed. + Proficient in MS Office Computer Applications (Word, Power Point, Excel) + Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record + Candidates will be subject to outside environmental conditions, including hazards and loud noises at job sites. + Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain . + May need to go up/down ladders or elevated structures + Must be able to lift and carry up-to 50 pounds, on occasion.
