Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a Safety & Training Specialist who will be responsible for enforcing our safety policies and federal, state and local standards that govern our business operations. The Safety & Training Specialist is also responsible for conducting training, audits, and incident investigations.\n

Responsibilities:\n\nProvide technical expertise in area of safety as well as industry standards and accepted practices\nAssist in the development of project and site specific safety plans\nConduct site\/project and office inspections, identifying hazardous conditions and overseeing their correction\nRecommend and implement approved health and safety policies to prevent incidents and accidents\nDevelop, deliver or coordinate safety related training for all personnel, including new hire safety orientation and corrective action training for individuals involved in incidences\nManage safety training records, identify and purchased PPE and manage and track all associated resources\nOversee all accident investigations, develop findings and deliver recommendations of corrective action\nMonitor and communicate developments in federal, state and industry rules and regulations\n\n

Qualifications:\n\nAssociate's or Bachelor's degree, preferably in a Safety & Health related discipline, or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals or Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) by the Institute for Safety and Health Management.\n3-5 years of experience in the construction safety field, preferably in on roadway, bridge or heavy civil construction projects\nExtensive knowledge of government, industry and other regulations\nExcellent oral and written communication skills\nAbility to make independent judgments to manage and facilitate company programs\/policies as they relate to the safety of our work\nAbility to travel as needed\n30 Hour OSHA Construction Safety Course Completed.\nProficient in MS Office Computer Applications (Word, Power Point, Excel)\nMust have a valid driver's license and clean driving record\nCandidates will be subject to outside environmental conditions, including hazards and loud noises at job sites. \nMust be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain. \nMay need to go up\/down ladders or elevated structures\nMust be able to lift and carry up-to 50 pounds, on occasion.\n\n
