The Marriott Colorado Springs is seeking a skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to lead our Engineering Department. This full-time leadership role ensures the property operates smoothly, is well-maintained, and meets the highest standards of guest satisfaction. Exempt managers must customarily and regularly direct the work of at least 3 full-time associates or their equivalents. Primary duties must consist of administrative executive or professional tasks more than 50 percent of the time and job duties must also involve the use of discretion and independent judgement more than 50 percent of the time. Responsibilities: Oversee the Engineering Department, including daily operations, team scheduling, and task assignments. Train, supervise, and motivate the engineering team to meet operational goals and maintain high standards. Conduct performance appraisals, provide coaching, and enforce company policies to ensure team excellence. Manage all maintenance activities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and pool operations. Respond to and resolve guest room maintenance requests promptly. Maintain and update preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms, public spaces, and equipment. Ensure compliance with safety standards and certifications, including fire safety systems, smoke alarms, and extinguishers. Conduct safety training for staff and oversee fire drills and emergency preparedness. Serve as the emergency contact for engineering-related issues. Develop and manage departmental budgets, controlling expenses, and conserving energy. Coordinate vendor contracts, review bids, and supervise contractor work to ensure quality and adherence to budget. Maintain records, including accounting procedures, operational manuals, warranty agreements, and safety documentation. Conduct daily property tours, inspecting rooms, public areas, and the hotel’s exterior for cleanliness, maintenance issues, and safety concerns. Ensure all work by staff and contractors is completed to company standards. Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth hotel operations and guest satisfaction. Actively address guest concerns related to engineering and maintenance promptly and courteously. Maintain proper inventory of tools, supplies, and parts. Establish and maintain a key control system for the property. Actively participate in all-employee meetings and provide necessary departmental training. Perform any other duties as assigned by the General Manager. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant technical certifications preferred. Certifications: HVAC, pool operations, electrical, and other trade-specific certifications as required by state or local regulations. Skills: Strong technical knowledge in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems. Leadership: Proven ability to lead, train, and manage a team while fostering a positive and productive work environment. Availability: Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Compensation Range The compensation for this position is $77,000.00/Yr. - $107,000.00/Yr. based on qualifications and experience.
